Crack Down on Wikileaks, Peter King Urges Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton

Rep. Peter King, never shy about expressing his sentiments, wants U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to take action against Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

King, a Republican, has written to both officials, calling on Holder to prosecute Assange under the Espionage Act and urging Clinton to determine whether Wikileaks could be designated as a terrorist organization, reports WCBS-TV in New York.

"This is worse even than a physical attack on Americans, it's worse than a military attack," said King, who asserted that the release of 250,000 cables -- the daily message traffic between the State Department and U.S. diplomatic outposts around the world -- put "American lives at risk all over the world."

The White House itself concurs with the latter point, saying the disclosures "put at risk our diplomats, intelligence professionals, and people around the world who come to the United States for assistance in promoting democracy and open government."
Assange, the man behind the previous release of hundreds of thousands of documents related to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, is already in hot water. He is under investigation in Sweden on allegations that he sexually abused two women while visiting that country last summer.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Leaking this information is not what has put Americans all over the world at risk. The fact that these government idiots said and did these things in the first place is what put them at risk. It is not the people's fault that the government STILL can not conduct itself properly!

Who will arrest Hillary and Obama for stealing credit card numbers and gathering information on peoples sexual preferences, which I suppose, was to be used for blackmail down the road? All we have in DC is a bunch of wanna be's, who care nothing of the rights of others or the Constitution and Bill of Rights. No wonder the rest of the world looks at us like a bunch of nuts and makes fun of us, and does not trust us. We need to keep our nose out of others business and bomb the hell out of anyone who interferes in ours, and stop trying to buy friends. Want to know the truth about torture? Ask the Marines and Navy enlisted who have done guard duty in Gitmo. The prisoners get ac and meals on time. The guards do 12 hour shifts in heat and the sun and even miss meals because the chow hall is closed when they get off duty. Damn bunch of wanna be,leaders.
