Sarah Palin Blames WikiLeaks 'Fiasco' on Obama's 'Incompetence'

Once again, President Obama has fallen woefully short in Sarah Palin's eyes. On Facebook Monday, the former Alaskan governor, conservative wunderkind, reality TV star and self-described Mama Grizzly swatted Obama for being asleep at the wheel when WikiLeaks website released thousands of classified diplomatic cables and communiques.

The title of her post: "Serious Questions about the Obama Administration's Incompetence in the WikiLeaks Fiasco."

"First and foremost, what steps were taken to stop WikiLeaks director Julian Assange from distributing this highly sensitive classified material especially after he had already published material not once but twice in the previous months?" she wrote.

White House officials condemned the document dump, and in Europe, heads of state aimed their ire at Assange, the Australian founder of the whistleblower website.

Palin calls Assange "an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"

And that's just the tip of the iceberg on Palin's list of questions for the president.

Was diplomatic pressure brought to bear on NATO, EU and other allies to disrupt WikiLeaks' technical infrastructure?
Did we use all the cyber tools at our disposal to dismantle WikiLeaks?
Were WikiLeaks employees investigated?
Were their assets frozen?
How is it possible that a 22-year-old private first class could get access to such classified information?
Where is the White House's sense of urgency in the WikiLeaks case?

"We are at war," Palin wrote. "American soldiers are in Afghanistan fighting to protect our freedoms. They are serious about keeping America safe. It would be great if they could count on their government being equally serious about the task."

Some argue that over the years, America has made such a habit of hauling out the "top secret" stamp that it's hard to separate true national security issues from bureaucratic boilerplate anymore.

Palin made it clear she is not in that camp.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. this wikileaks thing may be an blessing as this is what transparency is all about we as americans are supposed to know what our government is doing on 'our' behalf we should push for more transparency everyday we may find out that the government that is supposed to be for america's best interests has been rooting around in the garbage so to speak all over the world to steal from us and the world all in the name of americas security wikileaks i seen is going to release some lodown on one of the US's largest banks and the way they spoke about it it will be an dossy our government is now tring to lie their way out of something they got caught red handed in and its for us americans to hold their feet to the flame until they confess we need as the people of the US to take a stand about what and who is at the helm of this country im not talking presidents but our military and big business has to be more controlled as to time people serve we have another government living within our established government think about it this way if you wanted to do something say illegal and there was this opportunity to do so without any chance of being caught or jailed or perhaps your boss letting your emagination run wild and not caring wether or not its legal or not WELL THATS OUR MILITARY STRUCTURE in a nutshell

We just aren't used to journalists with courage anymore. The truth is out there, there are just too few journalists with courage to tell it without governments interfering or imprisoning the journalists. China, N.Korea and Russia wouldn't allow this. Isn't this the kind of freedom we keep fighting for?

It's time everyone understand that Sarah Palin would blame President Obama for just about anything at this point in time. She has no idea what she's talking about. So what else is new? She's taking advantage of not having any political responsibility at this time. If the shoe where on the other foot she'd be crying like a baby all over FOX news, and blaming the Democrats. I hope everyone can see that?

Well how can you disagree with anyone who criticizes the Obama administration. It has been widely reported that up to ONE MILLION people had access to these documents. Did anyone at the White House consider "someone.........anyone" would be tempted to access them and pass them on? Where is our Attorney General since the last time they were leaked to this idiot who lives in some far off land, and posts them as he sees fit. Now the USA has being condemed by foreign leaders for our incompetence in guarding our secret posts from them. Who else should be blamed?

It is amazing how every event that takes place is somehow the administrations fault . First of all, when did this young man steal and deliver all of this information? Secondly to answer here question about the 22 year old having access to such information. As a former Navy RM/T (Radioman/Crypto tech)at age 19 I had access to far more sensitive information. Mrs. Palin continues to show she has no clue. The individuals who monitor and supervise this type of information were there prior to the Obama administration and will be there after Mr. Obama finishes his second term.

You got that right for a change. It seems that just about every thing that goes wrong is the fault of the present administration.

Those of us who have been following the political scene everyday, know who Sarah Palin, the Half-term ex governor of Alaska, is. Only in our great country can a person of so limited intellectual capability can make lots of mney for being extemely negative and nasty, about anything not white, especially, President Obama, the first non-white president of the USA. But, Mr. President Obama, Sir, if you continue to choose to remain silent by not responding to her unjustified and insulting criticism about this Weakileak affairs, don't expect people like me, to continue to support you. Palin is right! I'm not crazy about her, but dang she's got a thousand percent more character, wisdom and common sense than Obama Bin Lyin has. We need to start in january to overwhelm Speaker of the House John Boehner with requests from the American people to invoke the 25th amendment on Biden AND Obama and put them both out of office on grounds of mental incompetency.

It is truly a shame that the administration can not keep secrets, secret. I do question whether the current administration had a hand in the leaks. By not intercepting them and doing whatever is possible to disrupt the posts it certainly makes the administration look as a co-conspirator or just plain incompetant. On the other hand, freedom of information can be good for the public. On the other it hampers our diplomatic efforts when names get posted, analysis is posted, and stategy is revealed. Where freedom of information has to be stopped is when it endangers any lives government or otherwise.

sorry but this is America and freedom of speech means stuff like this is going to happen, and the papers and internet will makes sure everyones gets to read it! If you want to stop the leaks stop the organizations that are so happy to publish this stuff; oooops can't can we. Also this is the age of the internet and nothing out there is ever secret. This is not the Administrations fault and there is no way it could have been stopped legally.

Not a big fan of Palin, but all of her points were valid. Certainly it does not appear that Obama made any real effort to prevent this information from being released, but rather he did what he always does: spent his time apologizing to the foreign leaders for what was about to be released. Since these documents put Hillary Clinton in a very bad light, perhaps Obama intentionally failed to take steps to keep this information from the public. After all, if the economy doesn't turn around in the next year, Obama will likely be challenged by Hillary in the primaries.
