The existing standard for "too loud" is that ads should not be at a level above the peak volume of the programs they interrupt, the Journal said. But that peak may be a spike, such as an explosion or siren, well above the level of dialogue between characters in a sitcom or a drama. Commercials can buzz along just below that peak, causing some viewers to dive for the mute button. You would think that with everything going on in this country that these politicians would have better things to be concerned about than how loud the commercials are on your TV. Instead of banning loud commercial ads, I wish they would ban all political ads.

The BEST invention was the MUTE BUTTON! Once, I called our satellite provider and complained and surprise surprise, the volume decreased. A good advertiser would speak softly and stimulate curiosity so the consumer will turn UP the volume.
