She recently wrote a message on her Facebook page that would end up being a farewell.
"You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope," she wrote. "These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined."
"Today we have lost the comfort of Elizabeth's presence but she remains the heart of this family," her family said in a statement. "We love her and will never know anyone more inspiring or full of life. On behalf of Elizabeth we want to express our gratitude to the thousands of kindred spirits who moved and inspired her along the way. Your support and prayers touched our entire family."

John, your children will walk in her image. She has left a legacy for them. May the Edward family be blessed and may God watch over them each and everyday for the rest of their lives on this earth.

I told my sister who had not heard and she started to cry , too. It was our consensus that Elizabeth died of a broken heart and had lost the will to live. Rest in peace, Elizabeth, no more suffering, no more hurt, no more pain. cbjack

I understand no words, advice or comfort may releive your pain and sorrow. Remember the good times when you are able, they are stored in the wonderful place we call memories. I understand your loss and the pain of watching a loved one suffer from cancer. My wife of 18 years passed away in "03" from breast cancer and she fought it for six years as well. She left behind three daughters. May the the good lord bestow peace and love upon the family during this time of sorrow and bring Elizabeth home to dwell in heaven forever.

December 07 2010 at 10:34 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyThe loss of a mother is a wound that never heals. The scar stays with her loved ones for the rest of their lives. Death's river is one, that one day, we will all have to cross. Will we have the courage she put forth to the world? What a comfort it must have been for her to know that she would be leaving her two young children in her daughter's arms to help them grow up and carry the torch of hope and pride that she had instilled in her oldest daughter. While tears will be shed for this wonderful woman, tears will wash away the pain of watching their mother's suffering while she put up a fantastic front with all the sorrows she had endured in her life. The loved ones she lives behind will cerish her legacy. Even in death's final blow, her smile and her wisdom lives on. May we as human beings throughout this world, learn a lesson from her life. A lesson of forgiveness to all who have wronged us and courage to face uncertain days ahead with a positive attitude.
