Adam Carolla Tops List of Favorite 'Matt Lewis Show' Podcasts of 2010

It's hard to believe the year is almost over, and it's even harder to believe that we're about to celebrate the first anniversary of the podcast.

Early on, I was a bit too ambitious -- hoping to do a show a day. (That lasted about six months, until we settled into a more realistic schedule of two to three shows a week).

To be sure, we've had some terrific guests this year (and the year isn't over yet). Picking my favorite shows wasn't easy. I racked my brain to come up with my top 10 choices.

Note: Several of my regular guests, like Politico's Shira Toeplitz, former White House press secretary Dana Perino and The Washington Post's Aaron Blake, are not included here. The primary reason is that their episodes were timely.

Your list may be different, but here's my best attempt to narrow down the favorites:
10. Dan Pink -- Early last year, the New York Times best-selling author joined us to talk about his terrific book, "Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us."

9. Richard Reinch -- This was a terrific discussion about Whittaker Chambers.

8. Zev Chafets -- The author of "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One" talked El Rushbo with me this summer.

7. Tucker Carlson -- Last spring, the Daily Caller columnist joined us for a fun chat about politics (this one may be a bit dated, as we discussed news of the day).

6. Elizabeth Cook -- One of my favorite new albums this year was Cook's "Welder." She joined me recently to discuss the album and the music industry.

5. Karl Rove -- George W. Bush's "architect" joined me earlier this year to discuss his book "Courage and Consequence."

4. Eric Metaxas -- One of my favorite new books of 2010 was Metaxas' "Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy."

3. Peter Beinart -- We had a fascinating discussion with Beinart about his book, "The Icarus Syndrome: A History of American Hubris."

2. Benjamin Wiker -- Arguably our best conversation was with Dr. Benjamin Wiker, when we discussed his book "10 Books That Screwed Up the World."

1. Adam Carolla -- Carolla's own podcast helped inspire me to start this one, so it's only fitting that his terrific appearance on our show (to promote his book "In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks") tops my list at No. 1!

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
