DeLay opted to have the judge, instead of the jury, decide his fate, The Washington Post reported.knute99:19 PM Jan 10, 2011
What is most saddening is that the Tom Delay was the Speaker of the House, which just goes to show how deep the corruption is in our government.
I WONDER IF OUR NEW SPEAKER BOEHNER IS CRYING FOR HIS FRIEND? LOL
karnibal - your on the money! they should put this guy away for life. additionally any elected official convicted should lose his lifetime benefits. this man is dangerous and a menace to society. he tried to control the lives of millions. he's worse than a murderer. put him away and let him dance for his fellow inmates.
January 11 2011 at 10:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPlease, please tell me that this CONVICTED person will NOT get any retirement funds etc... from the empty pockets of us Americans who are literally only ONE paycheck from being homeless or losing EVERYTHING we have worked so hard for! If he does get these benefits after being convicted I give up.Remeber everyone those great benefits come from ALL of us. Even people on Medicare and SSI. He should lose all benefits because he was convicted not because he was just accused. HuGE difference.

Sieze all their assets to pay us for our investment and while your at it audit them all too. Lets start at the top, Most powerful to longest in.(It's a sure win)! With all the money we will be taking from them,it will help bring the debt down. We need FEAR instilled in them. Fear is the only thing that is respected in this world! We can see some of it working already!Go Issa!
January 11 2011 at 8:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMan, I sure hope that I am not cutting my own throat by coming on here and saying something. This guy got caught for his bad deeds and is being punished for it but more needs to be done about all the other crooks and there bad dealings in Washington as well. I can't believe that there is only one crook in Washington. I'm sure their are more.
January 11 2011 at 7:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAs a Republican, I say he should do the time. Three years is not too little for white collar crime, if he is put into a prison with real prison environment. I think we pay for housing these guys too long anyway. Just add to the sentence that they cannot hold public office after they are out. If they did this consistently (think about recent Congressmen & women)perhaps we would see less willingness to take the risk of unacceptable behavior from our legislators. I'm sure it was politically motivated, but so was his crime. He wanted to "get ahead" of the other guys. Just do it across both aisles.

January 11 2011 at 5:49 AM Report abuse Permalink +14 rate up rate down ReplyIt's about time that some of these crooks find out that being a Pol does NOT put them above the law. The sad thing is that he probably only got caught because he P.O.d some other Pol. Being sent to D.C. should mandate that they are held to higher standards, not lower ones. As for him saying how he supported religious and charitable causes: The Vatican and The Salvation Army should both sue him for defimation !
January 11 2011 at 5:04 AM Report abuse Permalink +8 rate up rate down ReplyThere is virtually no one in politics and government that is innocent of any corruption at any level, be it minor, massive, seen, or unseen. Tempted by money and notoriety, these people often give sway to the worst side of them. Delay is just one of many in ALL political parties.
