"I'm grateful for the opportunities God gave me to minister to people in high places; people in power have spiritual and personal needs like everyone else, and often they have no one to talk to," Graham said in the e-mail exchange.Christian leadership is the very problem that faces society today. The lack of it , not the dominance. The anti-Christian is the populist mainstream of every news media. Christians have no backbone as they fear their tax exempt status will be removed. Our country was founded on Christian principles and today people mock those very same principles and want all of them removed from every government institution. Billy Graham was more inspirational in the spiritual side than he was the political side and maybe that is what he meant by devoting his time to priorities. His family was neglected of his time.

January 30 2011 at 7:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI believe in God; I just could never believe Billy Graham. I suspect that the Republican Presidents "used" him for their own political purposes, and he enjoyed the ride. I am pleased that Graham now realizes his error; the rest of us saw through it years ago. God wants all of us sinners not just the famous one.
January 30 2011 at 12:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThat Dr. Graham regrets his past "political entanglements", is clearly the kind of assessment only years of self-evaluation can provide. He has soldiered for Christ with dedication his whole life. That he now sees as a mistake mixing faith with things political, should be a warning to all. Jesus never pushed political or social agendas. His first concern was for the sick and the poor, followed by, or in concert with, the desire that all should come to God. He said we should render unto "Caesar" (the government) the things that are his and unto God those things that are God's. That we should respect those in authority over us and obey the laws. We err when we distort God's purposes by entangling political issues with our faith.

I think he should speak out against the immorality of the Kennedy administration of 1960-63. They cheated and they won, and traumatized a generation of Americans in many, many areas. Richard Nixon was certainly no prize in some respects, but better qualified than Kennedy in 1960.
January 29 2011 at 2:04 PM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyBilly Graham's mistake was becoming infatuated with being "America's pastor." He was more worried about being buddy-buddy with the likes of Bill Clinton than he was in speaking the Gospel truth.
I like Franklin though. Of course, the most popular Christian with the media is one that doesn't take a stand and doesn't speak out...content to sit down and shut up. The only people that need to shut up are the liberals out there (and on here) because their policies have proven to be failures time and time again.
I would agree with the reverend. Politics and religion should be seperate, at least in my opinion
January 29 2011 at 11:08 AM Report abuse Permalink +4 rate up rate down ReplyBut Billy Graham will not regret accepting Jesus and neither will anyone
else.
.politics and religion don't mix. That is why Huckabee will never be president. The US is too diverse in matters of religion and wish their leaders to keep their religious persuasions to themselves.
January 28 2011 at 12:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRev. Graham - never ceasing to inspire and impress.
