Bristol Palin: New House, New Beau and Maybe a New Job

Sarah Palin has been quiet for a week or so, but daughter Bristol is talking -- about her new house, a new boyfriend, and a potential new gig as a radio hostess in Phoenix.

Mix 96.9 is offering Bristol -- the single mom most recently celebrated as a finalist on Dancing With the Stars -- a slot as co-host on the station's morning show. The current host said he and others met with the 20-year-old last week.

"She seemed like a really nice person," Mix 96.9 a.m. host Mathew Blades told ABC15 in Phoenix. "The ball is in her court, but she seems interested."

Bristol recently bought a five-bedroom house in Maricopa, Ariz., and told the Palin family's favorite Alaska talk show hosts at The Bob & Mark Show that she loves the new place (especially this time of year, we bet).

"It made Dancing With the Stars worth it, for sure," she said of paying $172,000 in cash for the house.

She placed third with pro-partner Mark Ballas on the popular reality show in November, after plenty of controversy over voting and her mom's political influence.

Bristol also admitted to the Alaska radio show that she's dating a new guy, whom the hosts identified as a 20-year-old pipeline worker. (Does Arizona have pipelines? Curious.)

Apparently, she's also trying to get her son Tripp's father, Levi Johnston, to relinquish his parental rights so she can change Tripp's last name to Palin and Johnston can quit paying child support. Bristol said she'd allow Johnston visitation rights with his 2-year-old son, though.

In addition to talking on the radio, perhaps for a living, Bristol has been invited to bring her abstinence talk to Washington University in St. Louis as part of the school's "Sexual Responsibility Week" in early February. The school's student union is budgeting $20,000 for a keynote event featuring Bristol. Outed by her mom as a pregnant 17-year-old during the 2008 presidential race, Bristol earns between $15,000 and $30,000 talking about abstinence to youth groups.

Bristol's mom, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, is relatively silent of late.

Sarah Palin appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox show early last week to discuss her response to the Tucson shootings that killed six and severely injured U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Gifford and others. There's been nary a direct Tweet or Facebook post from her since. Sarah Palin addressed about 1,400 people at a Christian school fundraiser in Lubbock, Texas, on Monday. Palin's Learning Channel show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," ended earlier this month and wasn't renewed by the channel.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Bristol's is in her 14th minute of fame as is her mom. Its about time to move on to something interesting.....
No one is really THAT interested in Bristol or her baby OR her latest boyfriend OR her mother. The very thought of her mother having the nuclear football with the access codes should give every American the Night Sweats.

A 5 bedroom house? And for a 20 y.o. When I was 20 I bought a 1 bedroom home in the 70's and still live in it today. Why would someone so young buy such a large house? Plan on having a lot more kids? It seems a little over the top. I Bristols mom was never in politics in the 1st place, I doubt she would have been gifted with these over paid positions, speaking to students about abstinence and poorly at that,as I have heard her so called speech giving and I am not impressed nor do I think others who hear her and the fact that she was paid $15-$30 thousand dollars each. If she worked in the real world that the majority of Americans do, she would never be living so high off the hog.

Unfortunately in America, those who should be paid much more for the work they do for a living are never paid fairly for the jobs and then some who have no skills or talent are handed the world on a platter. Gone are the days when education, skills and the knowledge counted for something and the age of ignorance, immature antics but irresponsible youth flood the airwaves. And the incomes the incompetents bring in whether it is on the political circuit, sports field or the celebrity market they're not worthy.

Hi Margot!

Just read that the St. Louis college had to disinvite her because the students protested their money being used to finance Bristol Palin as a speaker. She definitely is NOT a poster child for abstinence and I think people are sick of PALIN'S in general.

Silent Sarah. I know she'll soon be back in full-throated fury over some perceived slight, but not having to put up with her constant whining has made this past week rather pleasant.

She seems like a nice girl, but I think she should stop the abstinence advocacy. Statistics have shown that abstinence ed doesn't work, AND she absolutely does not exemplify the hardships the average single mother must endure. In fact, her lifestyle glamorizes single motherhood.

She actually seems like a nice kid and I hope things work out for her. Like her Mom, she is cashing in on the media attention since the election. With time she will be a footnote (like her Mom) in the events surrounding the election of 2008.

Why is Bristol Palin on Politics Daily? To my knowledge she has never run for office and does not represent any political group in an official capacity. Should we tune in here for updates on Sasha and Malia? I hope not.
