The non-profit whistleblower website has been condemned by many in the U.S. government after it published hundreds of thousands of sensitive diplomatic and military cables late last year. The White House and State Department said the document dumps have harmed U.S. interests overseas. All of you people who support Julian Assange I find somewhat curious. Is it that you do not support the "Rule of Law" of any country? You say that we shouldn't shoot the messenger and you would be right about Julian Assange, if he was only the messenger. Julian Assange and WikiLeaks is not only the messenger, but also the extortionist! Mr. Assange has proclaimed himself as a revolutionary during a television interview on 60 minutes, and said that he and his organization is in the same mold as our first American Revolutionary's. However, Julian Assange is not about "Taxation without Representation", or the repressive role that England used against it's own citizen's here in America. WikiLeaks and Mr. Assange is not about peace in the world, but he is about chaos, unstable governments, persecuting business, more money, personal notoriety, and power. Julian Assange and WikiLeakes hides behind Free Speech as a contemptual mechanism to avoid prosecution from espionage laws, so therefore Julian and his followers see no ethical or moral purpose to the Rule of Law. He has made this painfully obvious when he tries to extort our laws by saying if you ( The US Government) try me, then I will further expose your secret lawful actions to the world. No matter how you cut that particular statement, it is devoid of ethical, and moralistic implications of the Rule of Law. Then the actions of Julian and WikiLeaks becomes nothing, but extortion, and not Free Speech. No sovereign nation can or should reward an extortionist for his actions.

February 03 2011 at 10:01 AM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyThis guy is just another America hater trying to make the our country look bad. Wake up people! Of all the countries in the world, America on it's worst day is thousands of times better than most other countries on their best day! Sometimes a government needs to have certain secrets for the protection of it's citizens. Americans seem to forget this. If we tell everything to everybody, we won't be able to protect ourselves. America donates more money to charity than the whole world combined. American soldiers have donated more blood for the freedom of the world's oppressed than any other country in the world. God Bless America. All others can kiss our butts!
February 03 2011 at 1:13 AM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyHa, Americans seem to forget that it is an international website. Sure it has released US docs, but it's not predominately an anti-US website. Wikileaks is about espousing corruption around the world. Assange just so happen to have an ex-US gov friend.
February 02 2011 at 9:58 PM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyI never thought it was anti-US. I think it's here to keep us all honest, no matter what country we live in.
I applaud Assange. He's a very brave young man.
Eric, simple trust but verify on the cold war. Berlin wall? That was attraction rather than promotion
February 02 2011 at 9:03 PM Report abuse Permalink +4 rate up rate down ReplyI guess we should all wear Reagan's rose-colored glasses and pretend it doesn't happen.
Apathy is such a horrid thing....
It also puts people in danger and creates paranoia.
February 02 2011 at 7:59 PM Report abuse Permalink +5 rate up rate down ReplyExposing corruption in our governments should be a citizen's duty.
Nothing wrong with trying to keep us honest.
If we don't like hearing how corrupt our governments are, we should change them.
Assangi's a hero, and should be treated as such.
I agree with you completely. Unfortunately, most dont want to know what our government really does behind closed doors. (cite your negative ratings and the sure to be many of mine)
