From Matt Lewis, a Fond Farewell to Politics Daily

Today is my last day at Politics Daily. According to our blog editor, I have written 471,239 words in 768 posts since I started publishing 2 years and 78 days ago.

Not bad.

As Michael Wilbon recently wrote upon his departure from The Washington Post, "It's not Shirley Povich's 75 years, but I hung around long enough to think it might last forever."

Nothing lasts forever (even cold November rain), so I won't bore you with another long goodbye post -- especially since I've already written my official farewell post.

Please do keep in touch. You can follow me on Twitter, contact me via my blog, or even pre-order the new book I'm editing, "The Quotable Rogue."

Finally, thank you for reading me (and indulging me) these last couple of years. That truly is the greatest compliment one can give a writer. I am very grateful for you -- and for the entire PD team.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming . . .

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Best of luck Matt, I enjoyed your articles. Hopefully we will be able to find you writing for another website. Time to close the chapter on PD, not worth checking back when my favorites are leaving. Again, all the best, and keep the public informed...

I, for one, will miss Matt's more rational blogging, particularly in view of the HuffPo brand increasingly marginalizing AOL PD as another echo chamber for the choir on the left. You can't get people to read your work if they know what you will say before you open your mouth. Thoughtful observation such as Matt has offered beats mindless parroting of tautologies any day.

Well Matt as a guy that always made sure to read your columns I think you owe us a explanation of your reason for leaving PD.
