Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Geez, if the Fed doesn't continue funding, public radio would be just a constant daily barrage for donation solitications. Listeners can only take so much.

PBS boss makes over $680,000 per year. Its your tax money. Remember this when you fill your gas tank so you can commute to the job you don't have.

NPR's boss makes more than President Obama. I think they can go it alone for awhile. This isn't even one of those "tough" choices. It's easy. Cut their taxpayer funding.

I lean a bit to the left, and often listen to public radio, but frankly, I say if we have to face tough choices, (and we do) then perhaps it is time for public support to be withdrawn. I enjoy a lot of what I hear on NPR, but to be very honest, I would much rather listen to paid commercials than those ever-more-frequent and annoying membership drives.

NPR has for years been a continued supporter of anything left of center and has always stated that any funds given by the taxpayers accounts for one sixth of there operating budget,,and would not effect there programs if these funds were lost...Now that they have been caught so to speak they have changed there format to a centrist position..and now all of a sudden with-out taxpayers funds they may have to leave the airways..Good riddance ..you indeed do reap what you sew..

Sorry, but public monies should not be used for Liberal or leftwing media outlets to thrive. NPR should be privately funded. Most of us on the Right are offended by NPR's editorials and slanted stories, bankrolled by public money. If they were privately financed I would have no problem with them whatsoever.
