But against the backdrop of a possible cut off of NPR funding proposed by the GOP-controlled U.S. House, Schiller can be heard saying that "very little of our funding comes from the government." That is correct. "In the long run," he said, "we would be better off without federal funding." That's at least debatable. Then, talking about the GOP, Schiller added: "The current Republican Party, particularly the tea party, is fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian -- and I wouldn't even call it Christian." In answer to a leading question about the tea party movement, he adds, "Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun toting -- it's pretty scary. They're seriously racist."WHENEVER I WANT TO HEAR LIB VIEWS , I AM GLAD NPR IS THERE..............THAT WAY I KNOW WHAT
HATE IS COMING FOR MIDDLE USA FOLKS,,IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS................
The liberals never cease to amaze me. If you are conservative they accuse you of being an closed minded bigot because we do not by into their failed socialist ideology. Then I read this article and they brand they folks that are in the Tea Party as gun toting, fundamentalist christians fanatics etc.etc. This is the epitomy of closed minded bigotry, This is why I left the Democratic party to become a libertarian, I got sick of the hypocracy.

March 13 2011 at 5:36 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyGee, the NPR slandering the Tea Party Movement. How shocking. Actually the only thing shocking is that they still receive public funding for their hyperpartisan organization.
March 09 2011 at 4:46 PM Report abuse Permalink +7 rate up rate down ReplyGee, the Tea Party Movement trying to deny the truth about it.... and that they take the words of one person taken out of context and not on the air and try to claim that that demonstrates something about the entire organization NPR.
March 10 2011 at 11:09 AM Report abuse Permalink +5 rate up rate down ReplyNPR - Friend of ISLAM and Hezbollah. Enemy of Christians and Republicans.... Good Bye Taxpayer funding.
Great Day...............
NPR is not a 'friend of Islam' or anybody else. NPR is a friend of the truth.
The Republican party has been after NPR for a long time.
Now they are after the unions, because the unions often support democratic candidates.
First of all: there is nothing wrong in Islam, one of the 3 monotheistic religions. (Christian and Jewish are the two other monotheistic religions).
In fact Ron Schiller is absolutely correct: many Americans are uneducated, ignorant and racist.
