Unemployed? Retrain!

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

We used to joke as kids sometimes when one of us asked the other "what are you doing"? The other then replied "I'm digging a hole to China", and we'd both laugh. Some how that's not too funny anymore. Many Chinese workers don't see their families for months and many have to wait just as long to get paid. We have to stop comparing apples to rice.
Inginuity, a concept of the past, as the now worn out saddles that were strapped onto the backs of the Chinese and then ridden wrecklessly into the ground. The now seemingly endless hole will take many years to repair but we can certainly lay a plank over for the crossing toward a new direction.

reply to gardenpass: We have George W. Bush to thank for our debt to China. He financed more debt to foreign countries than ALL previous presidents combined.

Actually our manufacturing sector has had 19 consecutive month gains as well as double digit export gains. We now have a president who is working with our manufacturing sector thru 100% improvement write offs, negotiating better trade agreements, and enforcing existing trade laws. Financial forecasts coming from the private sector are very good with over 2 million job gains for 2011 and very good growth in gdp. We are headed in the right direction if the republicans don't screw it up at the federal and state levels by cutting jobs and wages while eliminating corporate taxes.

The whole "debt to China" news cycle was just a smoke screen to vilify China as a way to divert attention from the core issue - Congressionally acquired DEBT. China holds only 7 percent of our debt, and congress was glad to let them buy it, but more to the point, someone else holds 93 percent of our debt. Where is the villain in that? The villainy is in the DEBT!! Don't blame China, blame Congress for buying votes with your money and yourself for not having the attention span to do something about it!

Hummmm ...., does retraining includes learning to speak the Chinese language ?
In addition to holding the mortgage on our nation, that's the only place with jobs.
