Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

What pro-abortionists do not understand is that those against abortion are not trying to hijack anyone's rights or bodies, they are considering that life inside to be a human being and are giving a voice to that baby. There is the big difference. Those that believe it is a baby, are anti abortion, those that think it is just a cluster of cells, are pro abortion. The two will never agree. Anyone that really believes that the fetus is a baby (and studies support this at a very early stage) could never agree to let someone just kill it for so many selfish reasons.
This law is not stating a woman cannot have an abortion, it just helps to keep some women from making a rash decision and doing something they might regret later.

Sorry. Love AOL. I was responding to another story and it posted here. Didn't mean to hijack this area.

Since the U.S. has completely surrenedered its manufacturing base to other countries there is only two things left for America to be number one in. Armed security for corporate interests worldwide and telling the world and anyone else that will listen we are number one in everything else.

of course we're there to protect profits! why else do you think that we project our "power" around the globe? freedom for capitalism! at home, the money left over from our military escapades goes to the bankers, and financial corporations, to support their executives in the manner they've become accustomed to--and deserve. the poor middle class can loose their homes--they aren't who keep our politicians in office--american jingoism and propaganda to the contrary. the "lower" classes are for breeding fodder for the constant wars that keep the "better" folks in their limos and private jets. anybody that thinks differently than this hasn't been paying attention--or has been watching so much of the hog-wash--referred to as "television news"--that their brains are running out of their ears. and "thanks for all the fish--no, no,--i mean the "change", mr president."

I can remember George H. Bush when Iraq attacked kuwait, and him declaring one day we will stay out of it, because it had no ecomomic interest on us. The next day we were amassing an army. I believe it was England, that yanked his change and caused the flip flop. Why are we stationed all over the world??? Is it to protect the american people, or to protect the worlds business leaders profit, by keeping the world stable for them??? Is that the reason for the american army, our sons and daughters are too expensive to work for them , but not too expensive to die for them ..

We're around the world to PROTECT CORPORATE AMERICA'S INTEREST - NO OTHER REASONS WHY !.

It's the reason Ron Paul wants all our bases ,around the globe , desmantled; he feels, why should the American tax payer have to foot the bill.

Just last year around that time there were wind of a revolution in Thailand and it was crushed by the government while the western powers and the UN called for calm and stayed out of it. Although there was a battle and some policemen and some Red Shirts died I thought the country had the right to sort out its own problems. Why do we think we can influence all events? Why do we think we can chart our own destiny while others can't? Imagine the horror if we have an uprising and others try to inject themselves in it we would call it an internal affairs of the United States.

What does any of this have to do with the USA. Let them sort out their own problems. WHat would have happened if teh rest of the world got involved in our civil war? We have to stop wasting our political capital as well as our actual treasure fighting unneccessary wars far from our borders. This is what Bush did; it didnt work out to well for teh rest of us.

Now we see what happens when we give up our leadership position in world affairs to become committee members. The massive slaughter of innocent people. Let me think. Is this the first time we talked a lot, did nothing, and watched people die?

This is a no win for Obama. I disagree with most of Obamas agenda. But he is in a position of what to do in another country. The UN is useless and will not do any thing more than talk about it. He is waiting for other countries to decise on what should be done. He does not want america to lead on this but that is what the other countries are waiting for. Good luck Mr. president on this what ever you do.

I said from the beginning this should be something for thev full U.N. to take up. Now that the Arab league has requested a no-fly zone, there should be no opposition to it. Isn't that what the U.N. was formed for in the first place? Our role as "policeman of the world" must end--it sure hasn't made us any friends!
