President Obama signed a nutrition bill on Monday with funding to improve food choices for children, a central element of First Lady Michelle Obama's anti-obesity crusade.
On Thursday, Dec.2, the president will welcome newly elected governors to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and powwow with advisers throughout the day before celebrating the Festival of Lights in the evening.
Call it the calm after the (bipartisan meeting) storm, before the (lame-duck congressional) storm: The president will meet with D.C mayor-elect Vince Gray in the afternoon and confer with advisers throughout the day.
The president has a morning full of meetings on his schedule for the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Tradition reigns on Wednesday, Nov. 24: The president will pardon the White House gobbler in the morning before attending to more important matters in the afternoon, when he'll meet with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
The president and the vice president will tour a Chrysler transmission plant in Indiana.
Looks like a quiet day for the president at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
It's a working Saturday for the prez on Nov. 20: he'll be at the NATO Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, pow-wowing on Afghanistan throughout the day, then participating in the United States-European Union Summit before heading home.
President Obama will be pow-wowing with European powers-that-be on Friday, Nov. 19. After arriving in Portugal for the NATO Summit, he'll have a series of bilateral meetings, then head to NATO Advisory Council (NAC) meetings in the evening.
On the day he was scheduled to meet with Republican leaders, the president instead will circle the wagons with congressional Democrats to talk legislative priorities during the lame duck session. He'll also meet on the new START treaty before heading off to Lisbon, Portugal.
