Peter Wehner is a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Mr. Wehner previously worked in the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush, in the last of which he served as deputy assistant to the president. Mr. Wehner also served as a special assistant to the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy and, before that, as a speechwriter for then-Secretary of Education William J. Bennett. He has also worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Hudson Institute, and Empower America.

Mr. Wehner writes widely on political, cultural, religious, and national-security issues. Since leaving the White House in 2007 he has written for Commentary, The Weekly Standard, National Review, the Washington Post, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and elsewhere. He also writes regularly for Commentary magazine’s blog “Contentions” and National Review Online. He also contributes to Politico.com, FirstThings.com, NewYorkTimes.com and the American Enterprise Institute’s blog The American.com. He is co-authoring (with Michael J. Gerson) a book on religion and politics and a monograph (with Arthur Brooks of the American Enterprise Institute) on capitalism and morality.

Mr. Wehner has also appeared as a commentator on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN television. A native of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Wehner grew up in Richland, Washington and is a graduate of the University of Washington. He and his wife Cindy have three children and live in McLean, Virginia.
