Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! The whole world holds its breath as we view through splayed fingers the unrest that is the Egyptian uprising. Or as Hosni Mubarak sees it: 10 or 20 rabble-rousing unemployed slacker agents of the West with too much time on their hands up to no good. That's the problem with entrenched dictators: they interact with their people less often than they enter Sinai Peninsula sheep shearing competitions disguised as shepherds' assistants. The man is so far behind the insurgency curve he probably sees his own running feet in front of him and even that has failed to fill him with any discernible ...

Like a lab rat in a maze whose every movement is monitored by psychologists, I want to report back as I stagger to the midway point of my sick-puppy experiment to watch 60 hours of cable TV news in five days. Three days ago I set off as a callow and naive explorer (I could recognize Zbigniew Brzezinski from his Carter administration days but not his daughter, MSNBC anchor Mika Brzezinski) to probe the heart of darkness known as Cableland, pledging to get all my news from MSNBC, CNN and Fox without any shallow distractions from newspapers or online news websites like Politics Daily. ...

If he didn't rest before the Beijing Olympic games in order to get himself ready to be a worldwide hero and record-holder, he sure isn't resting these days as he prepares himself to be a Hollywood icon and marketing extraordinaire. Last night, Michael Phelps was on 60 Minutes talking about everything Olympics with CNN's Anderson Cooper, who even challenged Phelps, who claimed at 205 lbs. to be the heaviest he has ever been, to a swimming race. The conditions? Cooper would get to dive into the pool and freestyle (that is swim, not rap) and Phelps had to do the whole thing underwater without ...
You decide that you want to help children and better the world in these trying times filled with economic strife, global warming, and too many bowl games. So you decide to serve the public interest and run for office. You invent a new party and are now a "Mannycan," because mere parties do not define you. And you do some good things. While holding various offices in Southern California, you solve the traffic problem, eliminate smog, and rally Californians on a platform of "In-n-Out Burgers for everyone, not just the rich." You've taken your success all the way to the Governor's office, where ...
The Democratic Party has an ad airing currently on cable which features an excerpt from a January Republican Primary debate. The ad shows Senator McCain answering the question "are Americans better off than they were eight years ago," by saying "you could argue that Americans overall are better off." It also features imagery of foreclosures, high gas prices, and other cheery signs of being better off. As is often the case with Senator McCain, full excerpting provides a more accurate view. Anderson Cooper: "Senator McCain, are Americans better off than they were eight years ago?"Senator ...
If Hillary isn't elected president, she should be brought in to run the CIA. The lady knows how to plant moles. This time it was openly gay retired Brigadier General Keith Kerr who asked the GOP candidates about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Only minutes after the debate was it disclosed that Kerr serves on Hillary Clinton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual Americans Steering Committee. The merit of the question aside (and it was compelling), this is another blot on the CNN/YouTube debate (You can see Cooper's mea culpa here). Not for a moment have I bought the breathless hype for these ...
It's easy to see, at least for me, that the gay Brigadier General who asked the GOP candidates about "Don't ask, don't tell" was there to put the GOP candidates on the spot. Not very nice, but completely expected. Turns out it is worse than I thought. The general is actually a member of the Hillary Clinton Campaign! Adam Yoshida has the goods and links to this article which makes it plain that Kerr is now more of a gay activist than a retired general. Note that the date is 2004. Either CNN is up to sinister stuff or they are incompetent in checking out their questioners. Out of the thousands ...
I wasn't gonna do it, but this is just too much fun. These guys really know how to throw down! So, here are my brief, (hopefully), stream-of-consciousness observations. CNN are A-holes - Anderson Cooper basically mocks and silences anyone who tried to make their video question at all creative or entertaining, including the awesome cartoon alien kids. And he takes a swipe at Kucinich! Hey, Coop, we can't all make "Celebrity Mole". Mitt Romney is not to be messed with - Rudy tried to get cute with Mitt about his landscapers, and nearly got booed off the stage. Then he went back for more, ...
