Since the massive earthquake that struck Haiti last Tuesday, Jean has called on the public to text "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund, which has raised over $2 million in just days, according to the Associated Press. "Yele's books are open and transparent. We have been given a clean bill of health by an external auditor every year since we started," Jean told reporters. He denied all accusations that he ...

Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak, the Place to Be for D.C.'s Power Players and Hollywood Celebrities

In the year since celebrity chef and restaurateur Michael Mina opened Bourbon Steak, the restaurant has become one of the see-and-be-seen places in Washington, D.C. Bourbon Steak is always packed with those who want to see celebrities in town, glad-hand high-ranking officials and be written about by reporters. Located on the lobby floor of the Four Seasons hotel in Georgetown, Bourbon Steak has been on a parallel course with President Obama's making Washington cool and hip and young. Chatting with me recently after the lunch rush, Mina recalls his shock one day during Obama's inauguration ...

Top 3 Conservatives Who Deserve a Biopic

Top 3 Conservatives Who Deserve a Biopic

One of the most controversial Hollywood films last year was "Milk". It was praised by liberals and gay-rights supporters -- and simultaneously labeled leftist propaganda by many conservatives.Personally, I am opposed to the brand of liberal politics espoused by Harvey Milk, but I also recognize that his career (and tragic assassination) marked an important milestone in American history. Mr. Milk's biography is a compelling story, so he was indeed a legitimate subject for a feature film. In truth, despite Hollywood's liberal bent, conservative messages do manage to occasionally get out. For ...

Martellus Bennett Talks Female Flatulence in His Latest Blogging Effort

Martellus Bennett has a blog at the Dallas Morning-News' Cowboy Insider. It's becoming a pretty common trend, really, seeing athletes blogging. But most of them are usually pretty tame. Not Bennett's.In his latest entry for the DMN, he discusses female flatulence, presumably having watched South Park this week. I wish I was kidding. And, obviously, some potentially offensive language after the jump.Man what do you do if your chic farts? It doesn't seem as if women should fart. I was walking in the grocery store in the chips and dips aisle. This lady was walking in front of me pushing her cart ...

Atlas Embraced: Why Libertarianism is Back!

Atlas Embraced: Why Libertarianism is Back!

Ever since Barack Obama started seizing companies -- and pushing his pseudo-fascist notion of "national service" -- I've noted some subtle changes bubbling up from deep within the conservative movement. The change is: Who is John Galt?... Perhaps you've noticed the trend, too? Your Facebook page may now list you as "Libertarian" or "classical liberal," instead of "very conservative." If that's the case, you know exactly what I mean. If not, read on... BACK IN THE 1990's -- before anyone knew the names George W. Bush or Barack Obama -- being a young conservative was a lot more fun. It was easy ...

Octuplets on Trial

Everybody seems to be really pissed off at Nadya Suleman, the 33 year-old IVF patient who recently gave birth to octuplets. Already a mother of 6, unmarried, and living with her parents, Suleman has come under fire for being "selfish and irresponsible." She has even received death threats. Now, she's speaking out in her own defense: .msnbcLinks {font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 425px;} .msnbcLinks a {text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; ...

Arizona Decides That, Without Lute, the Best Way to Win Is Fouling While Tied

Arizona Decides That, Without Lute, the Best Way to Win Is Fouling While Tied

They were two of the most boneheaded plays you may ever see in college basketball, like Chris Webber somehow calling two timeouts instead of one.The University of Arizona, battling the University of Alabama-Birmingham, was trailing most of the night in a contest to see who would advance to Madison Square Garden to face Oklahoma in the NIT semifinals, but then late in the game they started to come back. That comeback ended with two "seriously, guys?" fouls that could best be described as poorly coached and poorly executed. After the Wildcats put together a comeback that had the team down three, ...
