Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!Meghan McCain told Michelle Malkin Tuesday that she would not "shut up" and that the Republican Party should be more inclusive of moderates like herself. The attack by McCain, the Republican daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), against conservative Malkin is the latest battle in this year's public war of the Republican women pundits. The latest name-calling started on Friday when, according to McCain, "Malkin was asked which conservative political figure or commentator needs to shut up. Guess who her answer was? Yeah, that's right -- yours truly." ...
Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin are entitled to their opinions, which they have plenty of -- in this case about President Obama and his reaction to the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. by Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley. They are not, however, to paraphrase the late Sen. Patrick Moynihan, entitled to their own facts, or entitled to invent a scenario in which the White House somehow prompted me to ask Obama about Gates at his press conference last week. ...
Hope everyone enjoyed their Independence Day celebrations. My family and I enjoyed the fireworks from the roof of our Brooklyn apartment and I came THIS close to getting a three-day weekend if it were not for a certain pesky Alaskan governor, who needed to make a dramatic and confounding announcement. It's good to be back, though, and here, as always, are your Politics Dailies: If you can't wait until tonight to see what Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have to say about Sarah Palin's announcement, check out the work by Dennis DiClaudio and Mary Phillips-Sandy over on Comedy Central's ...
Media personality Ann Coulter appeared on Bill O'Reilly's television program this week to discuss the murder of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. Never one to shy away from controversy, Coulter offered the following ethical assessment of the crime: "I don't really like to think of it as a murder. It was terminating Tiller in the 203rd trimester." When pressed by O'Reilly on this statement, Coulter replied, "I am personally opposed to shooting abortionists, but I don't want to impose my moral values on others." Here's the clip in context. The salient portion occurs at the 3:35 ...
I was perusing the Time 100, and I came across an item about my 2nd and 3rd favorite conservative women, Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter. Time tapped Coulter to write a tribute to Palin for their list.Coulter makes several knee-slapping claims about Palin (and some cheap shots at John McCain) in the relatively short piece, but she does make one keen observation that my fellow liberals would do well to pay attention to:The only thing I have against her is that she threatens to surpass me in attracting the left's hatred. She's right, and she unwittingly points out the mistake that many on the left ...
Conservative icon and Guilty author Ann Coulter appeared on Larry King Live to promote her column, and to call Dick Cheney a wuss. Oh, and to make sure no kids ever want to go to "Auntie Ann's house" again: ...
Columbia University recently announced that it will host conservative author and Meghan McCain-nemesis Ann Coulter at the beginning of May. In preparation, the editorial staff of the Columbia Spectator published an op-ed asking attendees to be respectful of Coulter, but I think they had an odd way of making the point:While not a politician herself, Ann Coulter is a public figure known for her controversial political opinions. The invitation follows the trend of hot-button public figures-such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Minuteman co-founder Jim Gilchrist-coming to campus. One ...
The New York Post's Page Six reports that conservative author and lightning-rod Ann Coulter has turned down every conservatives wildest dream:The leggy conservative has turned down an offer from director Doug Liman to appear in "Fair Game," his left-leaning film about the Valerie Plame affair starring Naomi Watts as the CIA agent whose cover was blown by columnist Robert Novak. Sean Penn, who plays Plame's underemployed husband Joseph Wilson, was pushing to have Coulter in a scene where she'd be screaming invectives at him.Man, that sounds like fun, kind of a reverse-Blue Velvet. What a shame ...
Meghan McCain, daughter of Senator John McCain and smacker-down of right-wing provocateurs, has scored a six-figure book deal from Hyperion:(h/t Allahpundit)John McCain's 24-year-old daughter Meghan has a book deal! Sources say Hyperion has prevailed over at least three other publishers in an auction that began earlier this week, following a round of meetings during which the in-your-face young conservative and the literary agent she shares with her father, Sterling Lord Literistic president Flip Brophy, discussed a number of possible approaches to the book with editors around town. Several ...
In her latest column, conservative author and Meghan McCain target Ann Coulter wrote about a stringent demand by President Obama: That GM and Chrysler must cease their participation in NASCAR racing. From Ann's website:If Obama can tell GM and Chrysler that their participation in NASCAR is an "unnecessary expenditure," isn't having public schools force students to follow Muslim rituals, recite Islamic prayers and plan "jihads" also an "unnecessary expenditure"? Are all those school condom purchases considered "necessary expenditures"? Here's the problem: Obama did no such thing. It was a prank ...
