Prosecutors have offered plea deals to six current and former City Council members in Bell, Calif., if they plead guilty to charges of misappropriating $1.2 million in public money, The Los Angeles Times reported Monday. All six are said to have rejected the offer.
The report of the offer for a plea bargain came as the six -- Oscar Hernandez, Teresa Jacobo, George Mirabal, Luis Artiga, George Cole and Victor Bello -- were beginning preliminary hearings on whether prosecutors have enough evidence to bind them over for trial.
