Michael Steele Rips Obama, One Year Too Late

Michael Steele Rips Obama, One Year Too Late

We know that RNC Chairman Michael Steele has had a lot on his plate-- what with losing a reliably Republican seat in upstate New York and feuding with a radio demagogue. But for a man purportedly in charge of the nation's second largest political party, a one-year turnaround time in reacting to news events is simply too long...The Washington Times reports that Steele has sent an RNC mailer attacking [President] Obama for saying in Europe that U.S. foreign policy had shown "an absence of wisdom," then linking this back to how Obama "indicated disdain for small town and working Americans who ...

Thrill Is Gone in Democratic Race

Thrill Is Gone in Democratic Race

The American people have had enough of the election drama between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. A Pew Research Center poll found: Interest in what the public perceives as an excessively negative presidential campaign declined in the days leading up to the Pennsylvania primary. Just 29% of Americans say they paid very close attention to news about the presidential campaign last week, the lowest percentage recorded since December 2007. By comparison, 43% said they were following campaign news very closely during the weekend leading up to the March primaries in Texas and Ohio. Interest in the ...

Novak Asks: What's Up with Obama?

Novak Asks: What's Up with Obama?

The old-media "Prince of Darkness," Bob Novak, asks: "What's the matter with Obama?" Novak thinks Obama's recent missteps, including his bitter remarks about small town Americans and poor debate performance, will limit his appeal to Republican and independent voters:These apostate Republicans never were deluded into considering him anything other than a doctrinaire liberal who wants a more intrusive government with higher taxation and tougher regulation. But they have leaned toward him as an exceptional candidate in the mold of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, a post-partisan leader and a ...

He Can't Close the Deal

He Can't Close the Deal

Jay Cost has once again brought forth a very interesting analysis. This one indicates that Pennsylvania is tracking very much like Ohio. Hillary starts with a comfortable lead, loses it when Obamania is brought to bear on the subject state, but then fades away in the end. Clearly, the polls in both states have behaved similarly. The only significant difference is that Obama closed Clinton's lead much earlier in Pennsylvania than he did in Ohio. He moved to within 10 points 19 days before the Pennsylvania primary. This happened about 12 days before the Ohio primary. Other than this, Clinton's ...

Obama Rocks Philly

Obama Rocks Philly

Barack Obama rocked the City of Brotherly Love, where 35,000 packed Independence Mall last night. The crowd chanted: We're fired up and ready to go!Obama was introduced by Monique Sellers, an independent-turned-Democrat. Since January, more than 160,000 voters have switched their party registration to Democrat. Like Sellers, 60 percent of the newly-minted Democrats plan to vote for Obama.Sellers said that she comes "from a long line of Republicans" but she switched her registration because she was "inspired" by Obama whom she described as "a candidate of change, a once in a generation ...

Hillary on Poor Whites Circa '95: 'Screw 'em!'

Hillary on Poor Whites Circa '95: 'Screw 'em!'

The Huffington Post is reaching into the way, way-back machine to rehash quotes by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that stand in contrast to her recent courting of blue collar voters:In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach. "Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. ...

'Bitter' Pill Won't Stay Down

'Bitter' Pill Won't Stay Down

The tide of "BitterGate" is turning faster than a C-130 in a corkscrew landing. I've got to hand it to the people who don't have a dog in this fight, and even some who do. Despite a media firestorm over remarks that Senator Barack Obama made at a fund-raiser in San Francisco, and the campaigns of John McCain and Hillary Clinton pushing an "elitism" narrative to anyone who will listen, lots of people seem to have gotten wise to this game.At an Alliance For American Manufacturing Forum in Pittsburgh today, Hillary Clinton went in armed with talking points, but was greeted by a crowd armored ...

Obama Meltdown: He Doesn't Get It

By  Dave - Politics Daily
Obama Meltdown: He Doesn't Get It

Well, either he doesn't get it, or he's trying to gloss over the biggest gaffe in his campaign (so far). The gaffe which is a gift to the Hillary campaign, or in the event of a Barack win, will be a continuing gift to the John McCain campaign. David Knowles posted Barack's response to his incredible comments about bitterness in small town America and what that bitterness leads to (religion, guns, anti-trade, and anti-immigrant sentiment). And while his response was typically great Obama Rhetoric, He only really defended calling small town America "bitter". What he didn't defend is saying ...
