Atlas Embraced: Why Libertarianism is Back!

By  Matt Lewis - Politics Daily
Atlas Embraced: Why Libertarianism is Back!

Ever since Barack Obama started seizing companies -- and pushing his pseudo-fascist notion of "national service" -- I've noted some subtle changes bubbling up from deep within the conservative movement. The change is: Who is John Galt?... Perhaps you've noticed the trend, too? Your Facebook page may now list you as "Libertarian" or "classical liberal," instead of "very conservative." If that's the case, you know exactly what I mean. If not, read on... BACK IN THE 1990's -- before anyone knew the names George W. Bush or Barack Obama -- being a young conservative was a lot more fun. It was easy ...

Former Rep. Bob Barr Wins Libertarian Nod

By  Denise Williams - Politics Daily
Former Rep. Bob Barr Wins Libertarian Nod

Former Georgia Congressman (1995-2003), Bob Barr, has won the Libertarian Party nomination as candidate for president. The party convention, held this week in Denver, nominated Barr on the 6th ballot, defeating Mary Ruwart - a research scientist. Barr, probably best known for his role in the Bill Clinton impeachment trial, left the Republican Party in 2006 and shortly thereafter set up an exploratory commission for the 2008 presidential campaign. Barr, long a favorite of some conservatives, leads some to think he might pull some votes from John McCain in November. However, since leaving ...

Bob Barr to Run for President

By  Jay Allbritton - Politics Daily
Bob Barr to Run for President

Former Republican Representative from Georgia, Bob Barr, officially announced his run for president today. Barr will first have to secure the Libertarian Party's nomination. If Barr does get on the ballot in November, he is perceived as a potential drain on John McCain's support among reluctant conservatives. Barr helped lead the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton. He has since broke with the Republican party over a variety of issues, including the Patriot Act and the invasion and occupation of Iraq, which Barr fervently opposes. He has consistently railed against the politics of ...

There is a gaping ideological hole on the right side of the political spectrum in 2008. Bob Barr wants to fill that hole. And at this point, given that I can't stand either of the two Democrats or John McCain, I have to say that voting for the Libertarian or the Constitution party is very, very tempting: Bob Barr, former GOP congressman from Georgia, is an all-but-announced presidential candidate - as a Libertarian. ... A run by Barr could be to John ...
