Chet Culver has gained ground on Republican Terry Branstad, who served as Iowa's governor for four terms until 1999, with Branstad's lead down from 16 points in February to 7 points in a Mason-Dixon Research poll conducted May 3-5 for KCCI in Des Moines. The margin of error is 4 points. Branstad now leads Culver by 48 percent to 41 percent with 11 percent undecided. In February, Branstad had led by 54 percent to 38 percent with 8 percent undecided. Both candidates get strong support from members of their own parties, but Branstad leads among independents 51 percent to 34 ...

Chet Culver in the campaign to win back his old job, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted March 17. Branstad runs ahead of Culver by 52 percent to 36 percent, with 6 percent preferring another choice and 6 percent undecided. Branstad also had a 16-point lead in mid-February. Culver is statistically tied with businessman Bob Vander Plaats, who leads the Democrat by 42 percent to 40 percent, with 8 percent preferring someone else and 11 percent undecided. ...

Terry Branstad and in a statistical tie with businessman Bob Vanderplaats. Branstad is leading Culver 54 percent to 38 percent with 8 percent undecided. Branstad enjoys an 89 percent level of support among fellow Republicans compared to Culver's 74 percent among Democrats.
