'Real Housewives of D.C.' Debut: Michaele Salahi + Four Resentful Castmates

British-born Cat Ommanney arrived at the premiere party for Bravo's "Real Housewives of DC" Thursday night in a black mini-dress cut so low in back that she coyly told photographers, "I better tuck my knickers in first," before she resumed twirling and preening. But all that motion couldn't stop her from savaging the most notorious of her reality-TV castmates, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the ALLEGED White House state dinner crashers. The Salahis, however -- who in the past week have increasingly infuriated Housewives Ommanney (a decorator/memoirist), Lynda Erkiletian (modeling agency owner), ...

Brown Blasts Griffin for Insulting Daughters

(July 17) -- Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown lashed out at comedian Kathy Griffin for describing his two daughters as "prostitutes." Griffin, host of Bravo's "My Life on the D List," made the comments on the network on Tuesday. When two CNN reporters showed her a photo of Brown with his daughters, Ayla and Arianna, Griffin let loose an explosive sound-bite. "Scott Brown, who is a senator from Massachusetts and has two daughters that are prostitutes," Griffin said, according to Fox News. Andreas Serrano Guest Judges on Bravo

Andreas Serrano Guest Judges on Bravo

Andreas Serrano, the controversial photographer whose "Piss Christ" created a stir in the 1980's, guest judged this week on Bravo's reality show, "Work of Art." "Piss Crist" is a photograph of a plastic crucifix submerged in the artist's urine. When it exhibited, conservative senators were outraged not only at the piece but that Serrano had received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. On the show, the contestants were shown examples of Serrano's work -- some feature menstrual blood, semen and feces -- and instructed to come up with controversial work on their own. If it seems ...

Bravo Considered Axing 'Real Housewives' After Salahis' Gate-Crashing

Bravo Considered Axing 'Real Housewives' After Salahis' Gate-Crashing

Michaele and Tareq Salahi's White House gate-crashing last November -- and the possibility of criminal charges being brought against the couple -- almost drove Bravo officials to kill "The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C." Shooting was nearly finished at the time the couple breached White House security without an official invitation. "It was either going to be, we kill the show altogether or we do it with Michaele," Andy Cohen, a Bravo vice president told the New York Times. "Her story from the beginning is so intertwined with the other five that it would not have been possible to cut ...

Michaele Salahi: White House Crasher Cast on 'Real Housewives of DC'

Michaele Salahi: White House Crasher Cast on 'Real Housewives of DC'

It's come to this. Michaele and Tareq Salahi are finally, officially, stars of Bravo's "Real Housewives of D.C." And what the network calls "the most talked about" installment in the series airs Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET. Clearly Bravo figured the couple's myriad problems -- from that pesky federal probe into whether they lied about how they crashed the White House state dinner last November to a U.S. Agriculture Department probe into whether Tareq misused a $100,000 grant he received for a Virginia wine tourism study -- would only draw more viewers. All the couple's hard work has paid off, ...

Do the Clowns and Cut-Ups Win?

Do the Clowns and Cut-Ups Win?

Walking through the White House's East Gate uninvited may not be as bad as climbing over the fence, but even if what Michaele and Tareq Salahi did by inviting themselves into last week's state dinner turns out to be legal, here's my question: When did our societal standards dip so low that anything on the right side of the law is OK? Doesn't it matter any more that what the Virginia socialites did is distasteful, as Judy Howard Ellis has written? Or mean-spirited? Apparently not. Because while the professional poseurs reportedly shop their story to the highest bidder, their caper will have ...

The franchise is currently being filmed here in the Capitol. Washington has been abuzz since May about which D.C. women would be cast on the show. Although several candidates have been seen with film crews around the city in recent weeks, Bravo has not yet announced the final cast for our group of "housewives." ...
