Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!ATLANTA -- It was one game. They kept saying as much on Sunday inside of the mostly business-like home locker room at the Georgia Dome. "Yeah, it's one game, so we don't get too hung up on what we just did," said John Abraham, among the Atlanta Falcons defenders who spent the majority of their NFL season opener keeping the Miami Dolphins listless, clueless and scoreless. It was one game, all right, but this was a scary game for the rest of the league in general and the NFC South in particular. Here's the deal: You already know the Falcons have an offense. If you don't, then consider the ...
How real is the "fake-news" these days? Real enough to land "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart atop the list of most-trusted newscaster in America "now that Walter Conkrite has passed on." Going up against the big three network anchors -- Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson -- Stewart handily beat his competition. In a Time magazine online poll of about 9,000 people, 44 percent said the comedian was the best source for trustworthy news, while 29 percent gave that honor to Williams, 19 percent named Gibson, and just 7 percent voted for Couric. ...
Meghan McCain is not happy with NBC's Brian Williams. Why? According to McCain, the television anchor is so enamored with President Barack Obama that he committed the unforgivable sin of "bowing" before the man during his exclusive White House fluff piece that aired this week. Here's video of the offensive gesture in question. And here's McCain, firing off her disapproval via Twitter: McCainBloggette: Brian Williams just bowed to Obama? WTF, I mean seriously press corps we all know how you feel about him but now your [sic.] bowing to the President? McCainBloggette: interpret it as a ...

NYTGov. Sarah Palin, 44, is in excellent health and has had no major medical problems, according to a two-page, seven-paragraph letter by her doctor released late Monday night. The letter is the first information the Palin campaign has provided about her medical history. The release of medical records is common practice for presidential and vice-presidential candidates, but earlier this month, Ms. Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, declined to provide any health information or be interviewed about her medical history. Well, that seemed like a weird thing to dump just before the ...
The White House shed more light on its objections to an edited recording of an interview with President Bush conducted by Richard Engel of NBC News and aired on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and The Today Show. In response to a question at today's daily press briefing, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said that the Administration had received no response from NBC News to a letter sent to them yesterday by Counselor to the President Ed Gillespie, adding, "I think it's quite telling that they have been silent."In his letter to NBC News President Steve Capus, Gillespie charged ...
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Brian Williams was arrested for drunk driving in 2006, and new information that has come out about the arrest reveals that Williams made profane threats about having sex acts with the arresting officer's wife and daughter, used racial slurs toward the officer, and told the officer he could have sex with Williams' date in exchange for letting him off.The Jacksonville Times Union reports that it obtained the arresting officer's notes, which had not previously been disclosed, through a public-records request. And they reveal that the officer, wrote, "Almost ...
Hillary Clinton made a crazy funny surprise guest appearance on Saturday Night Live tonight following another debate spoof show-opener -- this time the MSNBC debate starring Brian Williams and a very well done Tim Russert. Earlier in the evening CNN had reported that Hillary had failed to show for a charter flight from Texas to Ohio leading some to speculate what had become of her. Well now we know. Here is Clinton's "Editorial Response" to the debate opener featuring Hillary and alter-Hillary, Amy Poehler. The You Tube videos that I had have been scrubbed from You Tube - not surprising - ...
At tonight's Democratic Presidential debate, possibly the last one, Hillary Clinton needed a knockout against Barack Obama to reverse the downward momentum of her campaign. She ended up fending off the moderators more than her opponent. In between, she failed to deliver on the radiant promise of the last debate, while also landing a few blows. Once again an obviously scripted joke fell flatter than Mike Huckabee's globe, but this time, she had a real point there. Brian Williams, and particularly Tim Russert, gave Hillary a George Foreman-style grilling, while Obama received only a quick saute. ...
The Jaguars-Steelers wild-card game won't be remembered for its flawless execution, but it was exciting. The Jags surged to an 18-point second-half lead only to find themselves down one late in the fourth quarter. The play that set up the Steelers' go-ahead touchdown was a fourth-down fade pattern to Hines Ward. The ball fell incomplete, but Brian Williams, defending on the play, was flagged for pass interference. Let's just say that Williams, along with just about everybody else, questioned the call: Ultimately, it didn't matter -- Jacksonville won on a last-second field goal -- but calls ...
