British Airways Apologizes for Bin Laden Boarding Pass

(June 3) -- British Airways apologized for a photograph that showed a boarding pass made out in the name of Osama bin Laden. The picture, published on the cover of British Airways' internal magazine, LHR News, showed an iPhone with an electronic boarding pass for bin Laden to fly from London to Washington, D.C., the Daily Mail reported. "A mistake was made and we are working to find out how this occurred," British Airways said in a Twitter message in response to a tweet about the story. "Apologies for the error." (April 20) -- To the travelers stranded throughout much of Europe for the past week, the roar of jets filling the skies today could not have been a more welcome sound. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has dispatched two warships to France to rescue British airline passengers stranded by a cloud of volcanic ash that has grounded most flights over Europe for the past five days, The Times of London reports. The HMS Ark Royal and the HMS Ocean are expected to enter the English Channel in the next two days, and a third, the HMS Albion, is headed for Spain and may be able to pick up passengers from there.
