Charles 'Chuck' Grassley

Republican Chuck Grassley was first elected to the Senate in 1980, defeating Democrat John Culver, father of Iowa Gov. Chet Culver. Grassley, a member of the Finance Committee, is seeking his sixth term in the Senate. He began his political career as a state representative from 1959-74 and served three terms in the U.S. House from 1975-81.
