I finally saw Angels & Demons last night, a month after it opened – still way ahead of schedule for me – and think Tom Hanks deserves an Oscar for delivering some of its most serious lines without cracking up. No wonder the Vatican didn't bother trashing this sequel (in its print version, it was a prequel) to Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code -- much to Ron Howard's chagrin, I'm sure. Days before the launch, promoters were still scurrying about, trying to drum up controversy, to little real effect.
