Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! My old frenemy, Darragh Murphy, hit one out of the park today over at PUMAPAC with her "Daily Pig Award" (an honor which I have, thankfully, never won):"On last night's show (February 9th) O'Reilly compared Ms. Thomas to "the Wicked Witch of the East" along with disparaging remarks about her appearance and age. Guest Bernard Goldberg added his own insult, and even Alan Colmes, while attempting to defend her, seemed to be having too much fun. This kind of verbal degradation in the guise of humor is unacceptable, and as Media Matters has documented, it's part of an on-going pattern where he's ...
Additional reporting by Yes to Democracy.PUMAPAC founder Darragh Murphy is a vociferous opponent of Barack Obama's candidacy for president, but she will be the first to tell you she's a lifelong Democrat, and is just in this to reform the electoral process and protect women. Just today, on her website, she had this to say to "Republican interlopers": We are still pro-choice, pro-equal-rights for women, LGBT, and people of color, pro sex-ed and pro-science. We like gay marriage. We like labor unions a lot. However, Political Machine and Yes to Democracy have learned that Murphy's husband, Nik ...
The PUMAs, a consortium of disgruntled former Hillary Clinton supporters, Republican agitators, and their 200-plus websites, seem to have a whistle-blower in their midst. Brian Carniello runs a website dedicated to having PUMAs send copies of the same set of form letters out to members of the DNC, ironically entitled "NotFallinginLine.org. He wrote a scathing "expose" of PUMAPAC on Friday, raising questions about PUMAPAC founder (and Political Machine guest) Darragh Murphy's fundraising practices, all but callingPUMAPAC a scam. To my questions, Darragh Murphy was evasive, refusing to answer ...
Update: My followups at the end of the story. As a follow-up to my PUMA story from Sunday, I had the privilege of exchanging emails with PUMAPAC founder Darragh Murphy. For the sake of brevity, I am including the thesis from that story, followed by my exchange with Ms. Murphy. (We're not "cool" enough with each other yet to call each other "TC" and "D") Before I do that, though, let me say that, after reading a lot of what she has to say, I still disagree heartily with her, but I also really like her. She's got a real way with words, and a refreshing attitude toward discourse. I wrote a story ...
