Our long national nightmare is over. After days of nerve-jangling uncertainty, California's parades and county fairs can breathe a little easier, step a little lighter. Despite another attack by TMZ and TheDirty.com, and a raft of new pictures that definitely earn an R rating, Miss California Carrie Prejean will remain Miss California for the duration of her term:Miss California USA can retain her crown even though she failed to reveal she had posed in her underwear as a teenager, pageant owner Donald Trump said Tuesday. Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump's side as he made the announcement at ...
All I can do here is the slow clap. (h/t C&L)Well, the slow clap and a little bit of my two cents. The cringing defense that opponents of gay marriage are using more frequently these days is ...
On MSNBC's Morning Joe yesterday, David Shuster challenged Joe Scarborough on his remarks about a timetable in Iraq, and Scarborough just lost it.This isn't the first time Joe has folded under a little pressure from a colleague. In April, Scarborough walked off of the set of MSNBC's "Race for the White House."This is one for the "Jon Stewart/Crossfire Hall of Fame. Enjoy. ...
Broadcasting and Cable Magazine reports that David Shuster will return to MSNBC on February 22, shortly before the Democratic debate in Ohio. Shuster was suspended following a remark that he made, about Chelsea Clinton, as guest host on the Feb. 7 edition of "Tucker." The remark touched off a firestorm that included surprising, and disappointing, reactions from MSNBC, Countdown host Keith Olbermann, and Senator Hillary Clinton. MSNBC suspended Shuster, Olbermann gravely announcing the disciplinary action and calling the remark "indefensible", and Senator Clinton threatening to pull out of a ...
Blogger Terry Heaton reports that CNN fired American Morning producer Chez Pazienza from his post at the show today over content on his somewhat edgy blog Deus Ex Malcontent. "According to Chez," Heaton wrote, "he was terminated for violating network policy by not running what he was writing through their vetting system." Pazienza, who worked for the network for four years, posted about the firing on Deus Ex Malcontent. "Yesterday afternoon, I was fired from my job at CNN," he wrote. "What was the reason for my abrupt and untimely dismissal? You're reading it. More to come soon." In light of ...
Greetings, fellow web-video junkies, and welcome to Videos of the Week. I've got a veritable feast of political pixels ready to serve up to you, but first, I wanted to thank you. All of the suggestions you've been sending have been enormously helpful. That "thank you" is for next week, since you haven't posted any yet. As the week progresses, if you see a video on the web that you like, c'mon back here and post a link, or email it to me. I'm going to try a little something new this week, adding a poll to see what your favorite VOTW was. We'll see how that goes. First up this week is a parody ...
Keith Olbermann reported, very gravely, that MSNBC had suspended David Shuster for what the Countdown host called "an utterly innappropriate and indefensible thing to say." This incident has echoes of last year's Don Imus kerfuffle. In fact, there seems to be a direct corollary between Imus' dismissal from MSNBC and Shuster's suspension, a sort of "See, we're SUPER-fair." There are several problems with this, which I'll get into after the jump, including what GOP Presidential nominee John McCain had to say about a then-18 year-old Chelsea and how decency only seems to punish the truly decent. ...
