Perry Slightly Increases His Lead Over Hutchison in Texas Governor Race

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is leading Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison by 44 percent to 29 percent in the race for their party's gubernatorial nomination, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Feb. 1. In January, Perry had led 43 percent to 33 percent. Former Wharton County Republican chair Debra Medina, a favorite of libertarian, conservative and Tea Party activists, had the backing of 16 percent.
