Kay Bailey Hutchison by 44 percent to 29 percent in the race for their party's gubernatorial nomination, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Feb. 1. In January, Perry had led 43 percent to 33 percent. Former Wharton County Republican chair Debra Medina, a favorite of libertarian, conservative and Tea Party activists, had the backing of 16 percent.
