Nine-term Republican Rep. Mike Castle is leading Democrat Christopher Coons, the New Castle County Executive, by 53 percent to 35 percent with 12 percent undecided, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted Feb. 22-24. Castle enjoys 87 percent support from fellow Republicans while Coons is at 61 percent among Democrats. Castle leads by better than 2-to-1 among independents.
