Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! To govern is to choose. And then there's this: After soliciting suggestions from the Web on how to improve his city, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing made the unpopular (if Twitter is any guide) choice to deny a request to erect a statue of RoboCop, the half-man, half-machine law enforcer in the 1987 film of the same name. Residents hoping to immortalize the Motor City science-fiction hero submitted the suggestion via Twitter. But, alas, their hopes were dashed. Fresh out of jail with a $50,000 bond and an electronic tether (for violating his previous bond, imposed for perjury, misconduct and obstruction of justice), Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was immediately charged with two felony assault charges. In Clintonesque fashion, Mayor Kilpatrick's "personal affairs" will now be aired before the public eye. The only question seems to be whether the mayor will hold onto his office until mandatorally expelled in accordance with a felony conviction, or whether he will forgo the spectacle and quietly resign. As a final note, the lengthy AP story apparently could not find room for one little, surely ...
