Obama's Drone War: Does the Killing Pay Off?

An air strike last month by a U.S. robot plane killed Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud, Pakistani officials confirmed this week, in a bit of good news. A notoriously brutal extremist, Mehsud played a key role in the killing of seven CIA operatives by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan Dec. 30. But there was bad news, too: Mehsud has been replaced by an even more dangerous and unpredictable terrorist named Maulvi Noor Jamal.
