(Dec. 9) -- Police say a California man took the word "stickup" literally when he robbed a gas station armed with a tree branch. Cops in Irvine believe Herlin Mendez worked with an accomplice to hold up a Shell station on Nov. 22. The accomplice, who remains at large, reportedly approached a gas station clerk with some questions about tires at around 8:30 p.m. -- then Mendez appeared brandishing a branch, according to TheWeeklyVice.com. ...
