Obama Re-election Donors Urged to Raise $350,000 Each in 2011

A group of 450 Democratic donors have been asked to raise $350,000 each this year as part of President Obama's re-election campaign. If successful, the effort would amass $157 million in 2011 alone, more than double what that same group generated four years earlier. The New York Times reports that the fundraising appeal came during a Washington meeting of the Democratic Party's national finance committee and advisory board. The fundraisers were exhorted to do their part by Jim Messina, who is managing the president's re-election campaign. In his 2008 run for the presidency, Obama raised $750 ...

Obama 2012 Campaign Manager Huddling With Major Donors

Obama 2012 campaign manager, Jim Messina, is on his first coast-to-coast swing this week, Politics Daily has learned, to huddle with major donors from President Obama's 2008 presidential campaign about building an organization to bankroll Obama's drive for a second term. In addition, the grassroots arm of the Democratic National Committee, Organizing for America, is gearing up for 2012 on several fronts, including in a few weeks ramping up an outreach aimed at Latino and African-American small businesses owners in urban areas. Messina, who wrapped up two years in the White House as deputy ...

Obama Gearing Up 2012 Re-Election Campaign: Headquarters in Chicago

The Obama administration on Thursday talked for the first time about President Obama's 2012 campaign; word that the national headquarters will be in Chicago, leaked earlier, was confirmed. "I think that is likely that is going to happen," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said at the Thursday briefing when asked about Obama running for a second term. The question was prompted because the White House earlier on Thursday released details about Obama's 2012 re-election campaign to several news outlets. Gibbs said Obama will soon file papers with the Federal Election Commission making the Obama 2012 ...

Obama Needs to Come Clean on Job Offers to Joe Sestak and Andrew Romanoff

It's all coming together now. On Wednesday, we learned, in the words of The Denver Post, that: U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff acknowledged tonight that he discussed three possible jobs with the deputy chief of staff of the Obama administration -- all contingent upon a decision by Romanoff not to challenge U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet. Romanoff said none of the jobs was formally offered, but said the only reason they were discussed with Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina was if Romanoff stayed out of the Senate race. "Mr. Messina also suggested three positions that might be available ...

White House Discussed Job With Andrew Romanoff, Colorado Senate Candidate

The White House acknowledged Thursday that a top aide talked with Colorado Senate hopeful Andrew Romanoff about working for the Obama administration if he abandoned his Democratic primary campaign against Sen. Michael Bennet, the president's preferred candidate. Romanoff, the former Colorado House speaker, said Wednesday that Obama's deputy chief of staff, Jim Messina, tried to persuade him last September to drop out of the race against Bennet, who was appointed to fill a vacancy that opened when Ken Salazar became secretary of the interior. Three federal positions were discussed, Romanoff ...

Air Force One Fallout Continues

Air Force One Fallout Continues

It's been over 24 hours since the-plane-sometimes-known-as-Air Force One buzzed past Lower Manhattan and sent New Yorkers into a panic. We have since learned that the plane was there for a photo-op in front of the Statue of Liberty, which is considered to be the quintessential American icon. (A total snub to Agate Fossil Beds National Monument.) President Obama has already apologized for the incident and has set off on the important task of finding someone to blame. Chairing the internal White House investigation will be Jim Messina, the president's deputy chief of staff. Messina is a decent ...
