John Hostettler looks for now to be a stronger candidate against the Democratic hopefuls than his rival for the GOP nomination, former Sen. Dan Coats, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted Feb. 22-24. Hostettler leads Democratic Rep. Brad Ellsworth by 40 percent to 34 percent with 26 percent undecided, while Coats edges Ellsworth by 37 percent to 36 percent with 27 percent undecided. The margin of error is 4 points.
