A flood of new polls on this year's key governor and Senate races came out Sunday and Monday, and here are the ones that showed the tightest races and those where the margins are larger, but the outcome is still in at least some doubt. Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, who was suffering from high disapproval numbers and trailing in the Illinois governor race for much of the campaign, has opened up a 6 point lead over his Republican opponent, while the Senate race between Democrat Alexi Giannoulias and Republican Mark Kirk remains knotted up as it has been in other surveys, according to a Suffolk University poll conducted Sept. 30-Oct. 3. Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, the man who took over from his disgraced predecessor, Rod Blagojevich, has fought his way back in Illinois' gubernatorial election, inching one point ahead of Republican state Sen. Bill Brady, according to a Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll conducted Sept. 24-28. Quinn leads Brady by 39 percent to 38 percent. GOP's Bill Brady Leading Democrat Pat Quinn in Illinois Governor Race

Republican state Sen. Bill Brady is leading Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn in Illinois' gubernatorial race by 37 percent to 32 percent, with 19 percent undecided, according to a Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll published Sunday. There are three minor party candidates in the race. Scott Lee Cohen, who withdrew as Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in February after disclosures that he had engaged in domestic abuse and failed to pay back taxes and child support, has re-emerged as an independent.
