Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! As a native Texan who grew up around immigrants and believes they are the hope of our country, I'm appalled by this law. I understand the frustration of Arizonans, but as a nation we need to recognize the war taking place on our southern border. We can't "wish away" organized crime. America had it in the 1930s, and Mexico has it now. It's real, it's powerful, and innocent people are rightfully terrified. America likes to think of itself as a civilized and generous nation. If that's what we are, we should give Mexicans a legal way to immigrate quickly in massive numbers -- with federal help ...
CNN's "State of the Union" is getting a new host -- correspondent Candy Crowley, who will replace current anchor John King starting this Sunday. Crowley is not the first woman to anchor one of the Sunday morning political talk shows, but she will be the only one currently doing so. Crowley is known for her campaign coverage, notably the 2008 general election. She is replacing King as anchor, but it was the departure of Lou Dobbs that opened up the spot. Dobbs quit CNN in November amid tensions about his frequent on-air tirades against illegal immigration. King will be move from Sunday ...
Lou Dobbs has reportedly ruled out a run for office this year and is entertaining offers to return to television, according to sources close to the syndicated radio host and former CNN anchor. If he were to run in November he would have had to launch a campaign this month, which he has declined to do, the New York Post reported. Dobbs had said he was considering a run for Congress in New Jersey, where he lives. Some supporters even started a "Draft Lou Dobbs for President" Web site. "I would be lying if I told you I wasn't enamored . . . with the idea" of running, he told the ABC News show ...

WINNERS LOSERS 1. Barack Obama: Inaugurated as the first African- American president in U.S. history, he inherited two wars, the Great Recession, a Democratic Congress with a pent-up agenda, a liberal base with a litany of unrealistic demands, and a hostile Republican Party – and managed to keep his head above water and his famous cool. 1. Nobel Prize Committee: With friends like the geniuses in Oslo, Obama needs no enemies. Awarding the Peace Prize to Obama before he'd learned where the White House cafeteria is located (not to mention committed 35,000 more ...

A prominent anti-immigration group has pulled its support for a possible political bid by Lou Dobbs, saying the former CNN host has betrayed its ideals. The Americans for Legal Immigration political action committee cited a Nov. 20 interview with Dobbs on Telemundo, during which he voiced support for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. That's something ALIPAC strongly opposes. Over the past few years on TV, in print and on his syndicated radio show, Dobbs has become one of the most prominent anti-illegal immigration voices in the country. ALIPAC reportedly has yanked all its Web ...
(Nov. 25) -- Lou Dobbs sounded a little like a political candidate when he announced his departure from CNN a couple of weeks ago. Now he sounds a whole lot like one. While the early speculation was about whether the former TV talker would seek the presidency, his spokesman indicated on Tuesday that a run for U.S. Senate in 2012 is more likely -- as a possible steppingstone to the White House. Dobbs, best known as a crusader against illegal immigration, has his eye on the seat held by New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez, the Senate's only Hispanic member. "He realizes that to run for ...
Lou Dobbs told Washington's WTOP Monday morning that he is not ruling out a presidential run, and, according to Politico's Glenn Thrush, that he will leave the final decision up to his wife. Asked by an anchor if rumors about his presidential ambitions were crazy talk, Dobbs repsonded, "What's so crazy about that?" "For the first time I'm actually listening to [people who want him to run for office], " Dobbs said. "I don't think I have the nature for it . . . But we've got to do something for this country." He said a run for president was "one of the conversations we're having" and that he ...
