On Tuesday, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, will make an announcement about the book, which is a tribute to 13 Americans, including artist Georgia O'Keeffe, baseball legend Jackie Robinson, and George Washington. FYI, President Obama. Justin Bieber has some music tips for you. Bieber tweeted Thursday night, "Hey President Obama check out U SMILE and RUNAWAY LOVE -- bet those could go in your ipod :)" "U Smile" is one of the 16-year-old teen heartthrob's biggest digital singles. It was a top 30 hit on the U.S. Hot 100, and a top 20 hit in his home country of Canada. He sang it last spring on "American Idol." During Obama's appearance Thursday on ABC's "The View," he said he didn't have any Bieber tunes on his iPod but that "he's a very nice young man." Bieber met Obama in December when he ...
President Obama says daughters Malia and Sasha may be looking for babysitting jobs to supplement their allowances. He made the remark during an interview with ABC News about the consumer benefits in the financial overhaul bill he signed on Thursday. In the interview, broadcast on Friday, the president was asked what he and wife Michelle are teaching their daughters, who are 12 and 9, about money. "You know, it's a great question. What I'm doing now . . . is they're getting an allowance. They're starting to get old enough where they may be able earn some money babysitting. They've got ...
The Obama family returns to Washington from Camp David on Saturday night -- and will spend the Fourth of July, which is also daughter Malia's 12th birthday -- at the White House. On Sunday, the First Family will host administration officials, "military heroes," their families and others on the South Lawn of the White House with a barbeque, concert and a great view of the fireworks on the National Mall. President Obama will make remarks. (Younger daughter Sasha, celebrated her 9th birthday on June 10, heading off a few days later with her sister, mom and grandmother, Marian Robinson for a Los ...

Sasha Obama is 9 years old today and unlike last year, she is celebrating her birthday at home. In 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama was in London with Sasha and big sister Malia -- who turns 12 on July 4 -- for a summer vacation; they marked the birthday by visiting the set of a Harry Potter movie. Sasha figures in a story Mrs. Obama told March 30 at a White House conference on workplace flexibility. Sasha was a newborn when Mrs. Obama had an interview for a job as an executive at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She could not find a babysitter, so she took her infant to the meeting. ...
After a Friday night out with First Lady Michelle Obama at a top rated and expensive restaurant, President Obama motorcaded off to daughter Malia's soccer game in Washington Saturday, along with his half-sister, Auma and then headed off to Fort Belvoir to play 18 holes of golf. Meanwhile, Mrs. Obama headed to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff to deliver a commencement address. The night before, the First Couple, who are foodies as well as appreciators of hamburgers and fries -- people can be both -- dined at Komi, an eatery Washingtonian Magazine has honored as the "Very Best ...
In the upcoming Mother's Day edition of USA Weekend, Michelle Obama talks about life skills -- and knowing how to do laundry is one of them. While wanting to share the world with daughters, Malia, 11 and Sasha, 8 -- they have spent weekends at Camp David with their pals, had a glorious vacation in England and France last summer, and seen shows in New York over spring break -- Mrs. Obama wants them grounded. The first lady grew up in a small apartment on Chicago's South Side in very modest circumstances her daughters will never know. The White House has a full staff to cook and clean for ...
First Lady Michelle Obama took her mom, Marian Robinson, and her girls, Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, to New York City over the weekend on a spring break Broadway trip, with the group taking in a Sunday matinee of the musical "Memphis," "Blue Man Group" on Saturday night and a preview of "The Addams Family" on Monday night. On Tuesday, Mrs. Obama and her daughters visited Harlem, touring the Studio Theater and the famous Apollo Theater, where then-Sen. Barack Obama held a presidential campaign fundraiser in November 2007. Earlier in the trip, the gang also toured the Empire State Building. Among ...
First Lady Michelle Obama, making her debut on Fox News to promote her anti-obesity campaign, told former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee that she is working "every day" to "make my country proud." Mrs. Obama seems to have outfoxed Fox, a network scorned by the White House, at least when it came to charming Huckabee. The Huckabee interview was non-confrontational, friendly and even had another Fox host, Sean Hannity -- who has been anti-Obama, to say the least -- cooing when Huckabee went on Hannity's show to plug his exclusive sit-down with the first lady. ...
