Florida GOP Staffer's Credit Card Charges: $1.3 Million
By Christopher Weber - Politics DailyA junior staffer of the Florida GOP racked up $1.3 million in charges on a party credit card in the latest spending scandal to hit Sunshine State Republicans. Starting in 2006 and over the next 2½ years, Melanie Phister's American Express was charged $40,000 for a stay at a London hotel, nearly $20,000 for plane tickets for indicted former House Speaker Ray Sansom and his family, and thousands more for jewelry, sporting goods and other items, according to records obtained by The St. Petersburg Times.
