Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! In an appearance on NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," Senior White House adviser David Axelrod put his foot so deep in his mouth that he needs a laxative to dislodge it. In a moment of banter about naming President Obama's dog, Axelrod let loose an ill-advised ad-lib:Although the audience (disappointingly) ate it up, I have a problem with this on several levels.First, and least, Axelrod's joke doesn't make any sense. Love her or hate her, Carrie Prejean is, objectively, not a dog. More important, and obvious, is the fact that a member of the White House staff (or anyone else) should not be ...
Our long national nightmare is over. After days of nerve-jangling uncertainty, California's parades and county fairs can breathe a little easier, step a little lighter. Despite another attack by TMZ and TheDirty.com, and a raft of new pictures that definitely earn an R rating, Miss California Carrie Prejean will remain Miss California for the duration of her term:Miss California USA can retain her crown even though she failed to reveal she had posed in her underwear as a teenager, pageant owner Donald Trump said Tuesday. Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump's side as he made the announcement at ...
Miss California Carrie Prejean's father tells E! online that his daughter has gotten a vote of confidence from another famous beauty queen: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. From E!: Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin go together like lipstick and pigs. At least, so says Prejean's father, who tells E! News in an exclusive interview that the Alaska governor has already been in touch with his lightning-rod spawn. "She called her directly to offer support," says the 58-year-old William Prejean While he did not reveal exactly which words of wisdom Palin offered to his suddenly-and literally-overexposed ...
Which is totally not true. Some of them are just sissies who still like chicks.TMZ is digging deep dish dirt on Miss California Carrie Prejean, and they've uncovered a bunch of gay venom in her parents' divorce:In one of the docs, Carrie's dad describes a confrontation he had with her mom in 1996, in which he recounts an argument in a restaurant parking lot, where "Ms. Prejean accused me, in front of our daughter, of homosexuality." The papers also quote a court-appointed doctor who said "The mother questioned [within hearing of the girls] whether [her father] was a homosexual or had a ...
Update: TheDirty.com has released the second photo. Click "Keep Reading" to see the second photo. See also: Miss California's Gay Education: All Men With Mustaches Are GayFirst, I want to clear a few things up. "Topless" means an unobstructed view of all available goodies. Therefore, the photo of Carrie Prejean currently circulating on the internet does not qualify. Do it again, and I revoke your right to call yourself a journalist. As for "semi-nude," this is as useless a construct as I have ever heard. It's like being "semi-cured." Call me when you're done.TMZ "obtained" an email that Carrie ...
The plot thickens for Miss California Carrie Prejean.NBC News reports that "racy" (1962 called, they want their adjective back) photos of the anti-gay-marriage (uncaped) crusader are being slowly, lovingly rolled out on a website called TheDirty.com, or "The Most Popular Website on the Internet." You might call them "Pre-jean" photos of Prejean:The Web site thedirty.com claimed that it had six pictures of Prejean. As of Tuesday morning, it had posted one on its site. The picture shows Prejean wearing nothing but a pair of revealing pink panties and smiling over her shoulder at the camera. Her ...
All I can do here is the slow clap. (h/t C&L)Well, the slow clap and a little bit of my two cents. The cringing defense that opponents of gay marriage are using more frequently these days is ...
People at both ends of this argument make me want to barf, and all parties involved are harming the cause of gay rights. Miss California's attack on thousands of marriages is now available for all to see, and instead of stupid gay thunderstorm imagery, it makes handy use of Carrie Prejean's victimization:The ad cleverly accuses advocates of gay marriage of distraction, while using distraction. Lost to the viewer is the fact that neither Perez Hilton nor the Miss California organization really has any skin in this game, as far as activism goes. So, what does Countdown with Keith Olbermann do to ...
Up until now, I've been on Carrie Prejean's side on her answer to Perez Hilton's gay marriage query at the Miss USA pageant. While I disagree with her, she didn't choose the question, and has a right to her opinion. As she points out, her answer didn't differ much from the President's. In fact, her vision of an America where people can choose same sex marriage or "opposite marriage" is far more generous than the reality.Furthermore, Perez Hilton acted like a real a**hole about it, calling Prejean a number of misogynist slurs, and damaging the cause of gay rights in the process. Unfortunately, ...
She didn't win the crown, but that doesn't mean she is leaving the stage. Miss California, Carrie Prejean, will be in Washington today to unveil ads for the "No Offense" campaign on behalf of the National Organization for Marriage. Prejean had been the favorite to win this year's Miss USA pageant until running afoul of judge Perez Hilton, who asked Prejean's opinion on gay marriage during the Q&A portion of the competition. (Hilton is gay and a vocal advocate for gay marriage.) Prejean responded, "I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that ...
