Taliban Leader Indicates He May Be Open to Peace Talks

Mullah Omar, the supreme leader of the Taliban, has indicated he no longer aims to rule Afghanistan and could be willing to engage in peace talks with the West, according to two of the movement's senior commanders. In an interview with The Times of London, the two men relayed a message from the Taliban's ruling council that Mullah Omar was prepared to enter into "sincere and honest" negotiations.
