NRSC 'Prove Them Wrong' Video Features Images of Rand Paul, Christine O'Donnell

NRSC 'Prove Them Wrong' Video Features Images of Rand Paul, Christine O'Donnell

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is out with a new Web video, criticizing President Obama's policies and "endless summer vacations." While the ad is well produced, to me, the video is most interesting because it features images of Rand Paul, Sharron Angle, Joe Miller and Christine O'Donnell -- all candidates who defeated establishment candidates the NRSC preferred. This seems to imply the NRSC is, at least symbolically, embracing these conservative Tea Party candidates. The ad ends with the words "They think we can't win. Let's prove them wrong." You can watch the video ...

Snubbing Christine O'Donnell Is a Bad Move for the GOP Establishment

Snubbing Christine O'Donnell Is a Bad Move for the GOP Establishment

As I have previously discussed, the Delaware U.S. Senate primary was unique in that it was the first time a Tea Party-backed insurgent candidate created such vicious disagreements among bona fide conservatives. Serious conservatives had plenty of reasons to be wary of O'Donnell, who defeated Rep. Mike Castle on Tuesday. Some, such as Charles Krauthammer, argued that she was unelectable, and would thus jeopardize the GOP's chances of re-taking the U.S. Senate. Others, like National Review's Rich Lowry, argued that O'Donnell could actually harm the conservative movement by creating an ...

Sarah Palin's PAC Profits, Literally, Off Joe Miller's Win

Sarah Palin's PAC Profits, Literally, Off Joe Miller's Win

(Sept. 1) -- Score another one for the mama grizzlies. Sarah Palin is among the many Alaskans celebrating tea party favorite Joe Miller's surprising primary victory over incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski on Tuesday. And why shouldn't she? After all, she was only Miller's highest-profile national endorsement. And the power of a Palin plug, while debatable, seems to have definitely worked out big this time. Here's Palin tweeting her enthusiasm for the Miller's victory following Murkowski's concession: .bbpBox22674487255 ...

Tea Party Pick Ken Buck Thumps Jane Norton in Colo. Senate Race Poll

Tea Party Pick Ken Buck Thumps Jane Norton in Colo. Senate Race Poll

Ken Buck started out as a long shot in Colorado's Republican race for the U.S. Senate. In fact, last August, it appeared Buck would exit the race to clear the field for former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton, the National Republican Senatorial Committee's chosen one. Ten months and lots of voter uprising later, Buck is the front runner in the Aug. 10 primary. A Denver Post weekend poll put him ahead of Norton 53 percent to 37 percent among likely GOP voters. Norton's staff issued its own poll Tuesday showing her ahead 39 percent to 33 percent, especially among women (the Denver Post's poll featured 57 ...

NY-23: How Sarah Palin Stands to Win (and Charlie Crist Stands to Lose)

Much has been made over the special election in New York's 23rd Congressional District. For some, the attention might seem a bit much, given that it is merely one of 435 House seats. In reality, this race is about much more than one House seat. It is a proxy battle in the long-running war between establishment Republicans and grassroots conservatives. Although GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava endorsed the Democrat over Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, after quitting the race with three days to go, Hoffman looks poised to win. One front in the battle over the heart and soul of the ...

Pennsylvania Gets Dirrrrrty for Specter

Pennsylvania Gets Dirrrrrty for Specter

Republicans are wasting no time in repaying the favor to Sen. Arlen Specter, who jumped ship from the GOP yesterday and received President Obama's endorsement at the White House this morning. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has ordered 100,000 robocalls over the next 24 hours to tell Pennsylvania Democrats, yes registered Democrats, how fond President George W. Bush once was of Sen. Arlen Specter (pictured together in 2007). In the call, a man named Jack says he wants "to properly introduce" Arlen Specter to the Democrats of Pennsylvania and gives this quote from President George ...
