His Democratic challenger is former North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall.The House race in the 8th District is rated a tossup as freshman Democrat Larry Kissell tries to fend off a challenge from Republican Harold Johnson, a former local TV sportscaster. Obama won North Carolina in 2008 by a margin of 0.4 percent.
