Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!Keith Olbermann is probably not headed for the "where are they now" category. Despite being the network's most popular personality, the outspoken television host parted ways with MSNBC last week after years of tension with network executives. But does anyone really believe that we have seen the last of Keith Olbermann? Surge Desk runs down five possibilities for the television anchor's future. 1. TV comedy Love him or hate him, Keith Olbermann is a funny guy. Entertainment Weekly reports that for his next move, Olbermann could team him up with Golden Globe-winning writer Aaron Sorkin ("The ...
(Nov. 8) -- What would Walter Cronkite think? Today, just three days after NBC News suspended Keith Olbermann, the hybrid commentator/news anchor host of "Countdown," for violating the network's policy forbidding journalists from making political contributions to candidates without getting prior approval of network officials, he apologized to viewers in a letter. "You should know that I mistakenly violated an inconsistently applied rule -- which I previously knew nothing about -- that pertains to the process by which such political contributions are approved by NBC," Olbermann said in the ...
(Nov. 5) -- Like a bad segment on MSNBC's "Countdown," the Keith Olbermann suspension episode (which may rapidly transition into the Keith Olbermann firing episode) just keeps on getting more outlandish. Late this afternoon, the unapologetically left- (sorry, "forward") leaning cable news show host was unceremoniously suspended by his network without pay, indefinitely, following the revelation that he gave undisclosed campaign contributions to Democratic candidates running in the 2010 midterms. Hours later, his supposed interim replacement, Chris Hayes, was yanked from the show as well, but ...
As Tom Diemer noted earlier, President Obama called Fox News' political agenda "destructive" in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. Interestingly, this was followed up by White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton, who said on Tuesday, "... if you're on the left, if you're somebody like Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow or one of the folks who helps to keep our government honest and pushes and prods to make sure that folks are true to progressive values, then he thinks that those folks provide an invaluable service." This, of course, makes the original comments about Fox News even ...
Kinda racist? Kinda? The full clip of Olbermann and Garofalo is literally disgusting. You can see the full clip below the fold if you dare. "Enjoy". (h/t Olbermann Watch) ...
Opinions and politics - they go together like a horse and carriage. Yet the media have set themselves a noble standard of suppressing their punditry in order to convey the news with dispassionate objectivity. A mighty task ... at which they rarely succeed. But, the worst among them now only half-heartedly pretend to even strive for such a goal. This weekend, the pitiably liberal MSNBC finally reached the tipping point, recognizing that it had so strayed into the woods of liberal hysteria that the ruse was up. Facing explosive pressure from on high at parent NBC, unrivaled lows in viewer ...
According to an AP story on AOL.com, Michael Devlin, the kidnapper, rapist, torturer, and would-be murderer of young Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby, was sentenced today. He has accumulated a total of 20 consecutive life sentences, with an appearance in Federal Court coming up on Wednesday. With the sentencing came the revelation, by Devlin, that he at one point started to strangle Shawn Hornbeck, but the 11 year-old talked him out of it. Shawn Hornbeck is my new hero. So what does all this have to do with Keith Olbermann? The occasion of this revelation caused Olbermann, on his show Countdown, ...
