Oregon

The race in Oregon's 5th Congressional District could be one indicator of the GOP's chances of winning control of the House in this election. Freshman Democratic Rep. Kurt Schrader is being challenged by Republican Scott Bruun in the district that's been hit hard by the recession. In the Senate contest, two-term incumbent Democrat Ron Wyden faces Republican Jim Huffman. And former Gov. John Kitzhaber, a Democrat, is running for his old job but must get past former NBA player Chris Dudley, the Republican nominee to replace term-limited Gov. Ted Kulongoski. Obama won Oregon in 2008.
