Clinton to Attend Mideast Peace Talks in Egypt
By Politics Daily Staff - Politics DailySecretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will go to Egypt for the second round of the Obama administration's Israeli-Palestinian peace talks Sept. 14-15, The Hill newspaper reports. "Egypt will host the second round of . . . negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh," Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki said in a statement carried by the state news agency MENA. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who began talks in Washington last week, will meet again in Egypt. Taliban Leader Indicates He May Be Open to Peace Talks
By Christopher Weber - Politics DailyMullah Omar, the supreme leader of the Taliban, has indicated he no longer aims to rule Afghanistan and could be willing to engage in peace talks with the West, according to two of the movement's senior commanders. In an interview with The Times of London, the two men relayed a message from the Taliban's ruling council that Mullah Omar was prepared to enter into "sincere and honest" negotiations.
