Cops: Woman Smeared Poop on Bus Driver's Seat

The bathroom is usually located at the back of the bus -- not in the front. But police in Portland, Ore., say that didn't stop an 18-year-old high school student from turning a city bus into a portable potty by smearing feces on the driver's seat and steering wheel. Gloria C. Soto has been charged with felony criminal mischief and interfering with public transportation for boarding the TriMet bus on Feb. 21 and allegedly wiping what police believe to be dog poop in the driver's compartment, The Oregonian reports. The dirty deed was committed aboard a No. 62 at the Sunset Transit Center ...

Ore. Congressman David Wu Explains Mental Health Issues

PORTLAND, Ore. - An Oregon congressman whose erratic behavior has recently prompted calls for his resignation said Sunday that some of his actions could be attributed to a reaction to a mental health drug. U.S. Rep. David Wu told The Associated Press, however, that it does not explain the behavior documented in reports over the last month, which included sending his staff photos of himself wearing a tiger costume. Wu said he was hospitalized after his 2008 campaign for symptoms that were later diagnosed as a reaction to a common mental health drug. He said he felt dizzy and confused on ...

Snow Heading for San Francisco, Seattle and Portland

Do cable cars have snow tires? A major winter storm is poised to descend upon the Northwestern United States over the next two days, bringing snow as far south as San Francisco after dusting Seattle and Portland, Ore. The Seattle area could see as much as 6 inches of snow before the Arctic air mass moves eastward. Portland can expect between 1 and 3 inches. Only trace amounts are expected to stick on the ground in San Francisco, but the hills around the Bay Area, such as Mount Tamalpias and Mount Diablo, are expected to see accumulations of the white stuff. According to the San Francisco ...

Major Storms Brewing for Both East and West This Week

Wild weather has been the norm rather than the exception across the U.S. so far this winter, and major storms are in store again for both the West and the East during the remainder of this week. Locally heavy snow will result in widespread travel delays, and parts of the South will be at risk for tornadoes on Thursday. The western storm will slowly dive south along the Pacific Coast from today through the weekend, while the eastern storm will quickly move from the Plains on Thursday to off the Northeast coast by Friday evening. Nasty Weather to Ring in the New Year

While the weather will be dry and tranquil when the ball drops in Times Square at midnight, parts of the nation will have nasty -- if not downright dangerous -- weather to ring in 2011. The combination of strong winds, snow and blowing snow will result in blizzard conditions in northern and western Minnesota, eastern North Dakota and much of South Dakota this evening through Saturday morning. Snowfall totals from this second of back-to-back storms will approach a foot in some locations, and the combination of snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to near zero at times. Wind chill ...

Oakland Leads Pack of Battle-Tested 'Dogs

Oakland Leads Pack of Battle-Tested 'Dogs

After giving Illinois a mild scare and Michigan State a pretty severe one, Oakland was facing Tennessee Tuesday night. It marked the third time in a six-day span that the Golden Grizzlies were facing a ranked team. Two of them were in the Top 10. Two games were on the road while the other was at a "neutral" site -- though it was basically a duel-home game for both MSU and Oakland, being in Auburn Hills. The Grizzlies' 89-82 win over the Vols was hardly surprising to those who had paid attention to the recent string of games. And now No. 2 Ohio State is on the schedule next week. Plus, ...
