Rasmussen's Polling Stirs Bias Debate

If you follow the polls, including those often cited in this blog, then Rasmussen Reports is a familiar name to you. Some news organizations will not cite Rasmussen polls because the surveys it conducts are automated (known as IVRs for "interactive voice response") rather than the kind of live telephone interview polls that are used by organizations like Gallup, Pew Research, Quinnipiac University and the major newspapers and television networks. ...

Republicans Pass Democrats in Congressional Preference Ballot

There is a surprise for Democrats and President Obama in the polls on this 100th day of the Obama presidency that could put a damper on the celebrations, especially among Congressional Democrats. Rasmussen Reports published new results for its generic Congressional ballot, and for only the second time in the past five years, Republicans topped Democrats in voters' preference for Congress. On the other hand, the poll is featured on a web page with banner quotes from Larry Kudlow, Michael Barone and Bill Frist and with ads ...

Obama's Disapproval Rating Reaches New High

President Barack Obama's approval ratings have declined steadily since he took office three months ago. A new poll out today shows that as the president approaches his 100th day in office, the percentage of Americans that disapprove of his job performance has reached a new high. Rasmussen Reports' Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Obama with a 54-46 percent approval rating. The approval and disapproval numbers represent record low approval and record high disapproval for the president, respectively. Moreover, the spread between respondents that strongly approve or disapprove of Obama's ...
